Starter solenoid and fuse upgrade.

Heres a nice upgrade for the buffalo to get rid of the fuse holder and at the same time, rubber mount the solenoid. You will need to make a bracket to fix the rubber mounted solenoid to the electrical panel. Basically it has to have two slotted ears to fit into the corresponding slots on the rubber mount. This can be oriented in the same position as the oem one and the terminal locations will fit just as the oem one as well. The rubber mount also has a spare fuse located in it and I've included a link for the connector/fuse cover part as well.

That's a nice upgrade. Thanks for that.

Can we bookmark that somewhere. I don't need one today, but when I do need one, I'd like to be able to find that link.

Hey Allan- I'm in the middle of this upgrade having bought the starter solenoid and harness upgrade you referenced. Question- can you tell me which wires from the original starter solenoid go on the new one? The new starter solenoid is marked "M" and "B" at the upper ring terminal connectors. The new wire upgrade has 2 reds, a blue, and a black wire. Also on the original piece, there is a smaller gauge striped wire going into the original- what to do with that one? Also, am I correct that the two red large red wires on the upgraded fuse harness go to each wire end where the original plastic fuse holder was? Thanks for your help!

I have not had time to do anything with mine but here's what I did so far in relation to testing what wires and colours go where.
The large red wire from the battery goes to the B location terminal threaded post, do NOT put it to the M location. The large black wire going to the starter motor goes to the M terminal threaded post. The two flat terminals closest to the B and M posts, fit the yellow with green strip onto either one and a black wire to the other one which will need to be grounded. The yellow/green stripe wire will energize the solenoid coil when you push the start button so it needs a ground to complete the circuit. The old stock solenoid unit did not need this earth as it was bolted to the electrical panel which was earthed, while the new one is rubber mounted.
The two flat terminals you have left now closest to the fuse socket, fit the red wire going to the harness onto either of the two as they are linked together. The spare terminal is not used, however you now have a spare accessory terminal and a harness powered one, which both are fused.
The small gauge red wire thats on the short battery wire that used to power the harness can be left as an additional auxiliary power source or simply cut it off for a neat appearance.
The wire colours on the red socket you bought to go onto the solenoid are in the wrong locations so remove them all. Add a new spade terminal to the yellow green stripe wire as well as one to the red wire on the bike going to the harness and fit them into the red socket locations as previously mentioned. Then make up a length of black wire with a spade terminal for the red socket side and an eyelet ground on the other end and fit it as needed. I would put the eyelet on the black wire onto the same location where the panel earth is on the battery box bolt.

Thanks for the info Allan! Will report back on how it turns out.
