Morning Gents!
Here we go 74 T500 10k didn't run for 30 years did carbs ect. Took right muffler off and dumped out about a
quart of oil out cleaned it out new started right up no (bad) smoke took it for ride could here transmation humming
got home drained oil not much in there. Filled trans up and started her up smoke city! Have no problem replacing
outer seals is there a seal on the inside that might be shot? Thanks!

Hello Ross,
The centre bearing has a seal either side. As this main bearing is fed lube from the g/box if these seals go g/box oil will start to get past the seal and you will have a very smokey exhaust . As your g/box oil was well down it sounds as if your engine is a typical example of this happening. To renew the centre seals you have to disassemble the crank, I'm sure that someone on your side of the pond will recommend a good crank rebuilder.

Does it smoke from one, or both pipes? Bear in mind that if the silencers are full of oil they will smoke as this burns off.
