6v rectifier from b100p

Post by pj_elia »

I am troubleshooting some electrical issues on my 1967 b100p. It has a 2 wire 6v rectifier. I also have a 2nd rectifier from a parts bike to test as well. I'm measuring 392ohms between the red wire and white wire in one direction and infinite in the opposite direction. The other rectifier gives me 400ohms. Is this in the normal range? Should I consider these to be good rectifiers? Does anyone one have experience with these?

Thanks

As long as you are measuring with the rectifier disconnected from the bike, both are good.

A 2-wire rectifier is just a diode. It conducts electricity in one direction (the ~400 ohms is the internal resistance), and does not conduct electricity in the other direction.

The difference in resistance between the two is negligible. It is used for an application where the expense of a precise tolerance component is not required.

Saw your post here first. But thought you would more likely see my reply there. So I just cut/paste.
