Just wondering. The brass points screws have soft heads that are very easy to strip. I am using JIS screwdrivers but it seems that after the screws have been heat cycled they are hard to loosen and invariably the heads get wrecked and even harder to loosen or the driver strips them..
So, is there a specific reason that brass is used? I was thinking about replacing the screws with stainless socket head screws whose heads would be much harder to strip. Anyone have input on this?
Thanks

Re: brass points screws
I removed a screw from a new set of points, it is magnetic, so new OEM points come with steel screws, they are gold color.
