one dealer informed me that many dealers have signed up with a company called Dusty Moto http://dustymoto.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" they have a database of parts across the country. Dusty Moto only sells to dealers and the pricing is reasonable.

My local Suzuki dealer had signed up with Dusty Moto they just did not know, at least the parts counter staff did not know. You can call Dusty Moto @ 912-576-3101 give them a part # they can instantly tell you if it exists in the network

Thanks, Suzukidave. That phone number is actually 912-576-3101. That 2300 number is no longer valid.

But yes, we can help you guys with your vintage parts needs. We created a powersports retailer community where shops that have unsold parts inventory (usually 12 month no-sale inventory) may provide us with a file of all that inventory to list on our site for the consumption by other DustyMoto account holding bike shops.

You don't have to be franchised for any OEMs to paricipate and have access to our huge virtual stockroom. Since many of our accounts are OEM dealers for decades, they are an excellent source for some of those hard to find gems you guys are into. But who has time to call every bike shop on the country just so you can get that original grey control cable and not the superceded black one, etc?

That's where we excel. We are happy to key in part numbers over the phone if you like and direct you to a local DustyMoto account holder. If you have shop of your own and have a state resale tax ID and number, we can set you up an account of your own, which is free. Pricing is set at today's OEM dealer cost plus nothing.

There is zero markup of any kind with DustyMoto, but we only do business with bike shops, so let your local guy know that we're here and they're welcome in. Thanks!

One of this board's subscribers contacted us looking for some old Suzuki parts. I directed him to a shop near him in New Jersey. Hopefully near him... Same state, anyway :D

We have nothing for the direct public as of yet, but we are going to add a portal that will allow Joe Public to at least check availability of items online. They can take the next step with their local retailer knowing what parts are and are not available then.

Not ready yet, but I'll make sure you guys know when it is.

That would be me, I just bought 74 GT 750 in need of major restoration....Thanks Todd for the fast response and Thanks Suzuki dave for the info post.

I did contact the dealer and found the part I need.

I have a few vintage Yamaha's and the dealers have some proprietary system they use that does the same thing.....invaleuable.

I think the service Todd's company provides is invaluable to dealers and customers.

Thanks to Ian, Oldjapanesebikes for telling of this site.

Just wondering if this information is also relevant to Australia, the problem we have here is freight costs, postage works out dearer than the part sometimes. Any help appreciated. Oh I have a 76 GT550 just rebuilt but appears parts have gone missing, trying to work out what.

Correct - DustyMoto closed up shop in October 2013. Seems a shame as the concept seemed good, but proved difficult to sustain. :(

Hey guys,

I stumbled across this conversation and wanted to let you guys know that a company I work with is getting ready to launch a site that should hopefully help out with connecting buyers and sellers together in the powersports industry. We will allow Sellers (both dealers and individuals) to load parts for them be purchased in mass or individually. You will be able to enter part numbers and check availability across the network.

We are in preparation to launch the full site soon but in the meantime you can view inforation and sign up to get updates on our pre-launch site here: http://www.partstomove.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and follow us on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/PARTStoMOVE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks everyone!

In Australia, do dealerships just not have the parts you are looking for or is there not that many dealerships with the older stuff and that means you need to look at other countries?
