Here is that 84 FJ1100 today.....
A friend totaled it when an old lady pulled out in front of him in 1986. A few years later I turned it into A rocking horse for my kids....
now it's a decoration collecting dust....

by the way, it's about 15 degrees outside, and I'm going into hibernation mode for a few months I think :( :( :(

Heres a 74 CB550 a guy at work gave me, to turn into a cafe racer style ride. Hasn't been on the road for 15 years he said.....should have it done by early spring....
I'm going to hate giving it back when I'm done.....I'll make sure I break it in for him first though...

Neat bikes Busa! I also have a GS1000SZ Kat in my collection. Your CBX is modded like my Buffalo with modern GSXR running gear. We should get together for a ride sometime or meet up for Mid Ohio 2013. I live in Ft. Wayne. How is the Honda Cafe project coming?

Still needs paint, but it runs good....after 17 years of rest, it's back on the road.
Heading to Centreville MI for a vintage bike show this weekend. And Mid Ohio is definitely on my list, but I'll be taking a van with one of my bikes..just in case I find a treasure I can't live without. I'd like to see your suspension conversion with the GT.

Your Honda Cafe project is looking great!

Here are a couple of pics of my GT with the suspension conversion. It handles like a modern sport bike comparable to I'd say a Ducati monster or 900ss. Have you been to that bike show in Centerville MI before? It is about hour and a half from me.

The bike show isn't very big... More shovel/pan/knuckle head Harley's than much else... I think there may have been 45+ bikes in the show overall. Your GT would definitely draw attention, nothing close to a bike like that there... Was one rd500 Yamaha and a bone stock CBX there that looked pretty good.
I saw some of the build up on your bike.... Definitely looks sweet, and well thought out. That was my original thought on my 72 GT, but it was too complete and original to cafe out.

The first GT 750 I had in 1988 when I was 18 was exactly like your purple and white 72. Found it in a barn with 60,000 miles on it under a pile of bird droppings. I restored it and rode it for 3 years before selling it. Spanked a lot of Kaws on that bike! I think your bike as an unmolested example is the best year as a classic original GT750. And certainly the most valuable!

I looked up the bike show in Centerville and t looks like fun, but I have a cars, bikes and coffee event I am going to tomorrow in Fort Wayne that my son organizes. Usually, about 80 cars and a handful of bikes everything from Ferrari's to Ducati's and American Muscle.
Have fun, Sean

I had the only two stroke Suzuki on the grounds.... The organizers were happy to see something a little different.
Bike show was 80% harley :(
Kinda depressing, but that seems to be the mindset in this area anyway.... Being different, by everyone riding the exact same bike......... then change handlebars/pipes/wheels, and thinking they are one of a kind..... .

This 78 GS1000 isn't a one of a kind.... but when built in 82, that wasn't a concern....
The only concerns I had were going/stopping/turning a little faster than anyone else in town.

Sweet GS1000 one of my all time favorites. I have a modded 82 1100 Cooley Rep done in Dodge Viper blue and white that has been with me from the beginning. I took out my 82 Katana 1000 and my son rode my 82 CB900F on Saturday to CC&B. It was 80's Superbike Saturday, lol. Did you show your GT?

I rode the GT.... But I feel bad showing it with the seat I have.
And I will not pay as much for an original seat, as I did for the entire rest of bike.....
Too many other projects, that could use that much money....

Made a deal trading my stock RZ wheels for a set of first generation DYMAG magnesium wheels.....
Almost too good to be true...excellent condition for wheels off a old race bike.. Still need to figure out a speedo drive yet.

Love the Dymags! I have a set on my Triumph Daytona Super III. I think they fit your modded RZ perfectly.

I've always wanted a set of these or Astralites for the RZ....but either are pretty hard to find, at least in the States..... Without spending some big $$$ anyway...

Didn't you have a set of RC, or performance machine wheels on your GT750 at one time? Looking for something different for my CBX

PM's I still have them, but when I put them back on they will be black! The OE Suzuki Busa wheels are actually lighter by 2lbs. But you can't beat the dish on the PM's.
