Wow! The coaches look awesome.

Still not sure if I am going to paint anything else at this point or not. I would prefer to get it done locally if I can find someone.

I realized that talking about getting a RZV for over 30 years was not magically causing one to appear in my garage.
I'm obviously not getting any younger, and RZV's are not getting any cheaper.....it was time to back up my words with action.

Naomi in Japan is the middle man for my bidding in Japan and she also is the one with the knowledge on exporting.
My bike is now in her shop, and after the New Years holiday week there...the bike will get boxed and shipped out....
The dream is becoming reality....

Thanks
It will be a keeper, and I'll try to relive the youth I wish I would have had when these were new.

Brought home another Suzuki that had been left unused in storage for years....
Looks like all it will need is a bit of work on the wiring, and it will be up and running again...

I have decided to give the RZV a fresh start in a new environment.
Total teardown, and complete cleanup throughout....
Luckily I did start pulling it apart as I found two kinked fuel lines, and a clutch cable that was about to go any time.
Hope the engine will be out by weekend, and I can start the rejuvenation on it all....

Hope to have it done by end of summer

Finally had a chance to get a few miles on the RGV to see if dropping the needle down to the middle groove was a help. The mid range feels so much better now, and low range is very manageable...but it feels still the slightest bit rich. Once I'm around 5000rpm it just pulls very smoothly all the way up past redline (12500+). Which feels so intense its hard to describe when I'm passing through the 200kph zone....and beyond....
I really love this bike.....even when the day comes I'm too damn old to get up on it, I'll hang it on the wall as art ....I like looking at it almost as much as riding it.
It's so close to being done, maybe 99%.....the dyno time it needs will get it to that final 100%

Thanks...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is from one of Australia's biggest two stroke parts suppliers says...

Welcome to RGVSpares

Well what can be said. The best 2 stroke race replica built and so ellusive outside of Japan. Fully adjustable suspension front and rear, electric start and ram air that actually works...
These were built to compete against the Hondas in the Japan F3 championship. Honda had dominated for many years but that came to an end when the VJ23 arrived.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is from another two stroke site

From direct experience across many different makes, models and years of pure race and road going 250cc GP type bikes I can say some are certainly better than others. The ultimate pure race bikes for me was my 2006 TZ250. That bike was poetry in motion. When it comes to the road going 250's I absolutely cant say enough about the 1996 Suzuki RGV250SP. This particular model was the last development of the road going 250cc GP bikes. Honda and Yamaha stopped developing road going bikes in the early 1990's but Suzuki chose to do one last development and launched the VJ23 version of the bike in 1996. The new bike had a few faults. It was slightly underpowered and very costly to make fast and maintain. Also, since it was a one year only model the supply of new and used spare parts was expensive and few and far between. The best part about the VJ23 was the chassis. It can go head-to -head with any of my TZ250's. I have found it easier to ride than the TZ because it gives tremendous feedback from the rear. The bike can step out and bring it back in without any issue. It is a safe bike to go really fast on.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personally I'm far from en expert, but I have never been on a bike that felt so good to ride.....
...move it from the top 10 to maybe .......the next bike
Before all the affordable ones have been parted in Japan and scattered across the world to never be seen again....
(I am just as much to blame as anyone for the decimation of VJ23's because I just bought a spare engine from a perfectly running example that was parted, just like a black market organ donor....)

Save one from extinction, you won't regret it
