Looks like a very early model 500...69-71?
Looks pretty complete, which is good because parts for those is getting crazy

CBX is up and running, have put about 50 winter miles on it trying to get pistons broke in.
Waiting for warm weather now....next is the SR500 and GS1000
Trying to get a deal on a dry clutch and close ratio, for the RGV thats been on the table forever also...

Very nice conversion, but please shorten the front brake lines! That looks dangerous

They are long, but do not make contact with anything.

My poor old VJ21 (Suzuki RGV250) has been sitting neglected ever since I got it.....which has been quite a few years now.
Have been collecting a few parts for it though....and I thought I would put a few of them on.
RF600 front wheel (3.5 instead of 3.0 but same center hub dimensions)...early Katana 600 rotors....and a set of genuine home market only fully adjustable RGV250SP forks

And the SR500 is done....A lot of changes for the better, but still looks pretty original
The bike and my girlfriend are both legal for the street, and ready to enjoy the summer together.

After putting the front end back onto my RGV250....I should see if I could get it running before I did much more.
So I pulled the carbs off and stuck them in my sonic cleaner



Bolted them back up



And it fired right off...for the first time since I've had it, smoking evenly from both cylinders



I then cleaned out the tank with vinegar, then my soda blaster...cleaned all that out along with the fuel tap.
Rebuilt the brakes so I could slow down... and took it on the road for the first time
Not remotely legal....but thats half the fun

Only another coupla days to complete then?
Looking good so far, surprising how little these old bikes need sometimes to get back running.
It's the time scale that usually kills it.

It got put back in it's corner for a while, until I can get more parts rounded up (yahoo.co.jp)
Time frame.....Hopefully within a year or so......

I am surprised that it did fire up and run as good as it did...seems the crank seals are still good.
It did have some type of ignition cut out a few times....not sure about the cause though.

The RGV will have to wait it's turn...
