Missed you at the Moto GP this year at the Concourse, did you make it this year? I took my Katana, 1000SN Cooley, & Ducati 907. Had a lot of fun this year. Hit just over 120mph on the front straight of the track lap aboard the Katana. Have great GoPro video from onboard the big Kat. I left my GT750 in the barn for that trip.

I was there Saturday... then uptown that night....drag strip Sunday. I did see your two Suzuki's...really liked the original 1000SN.
I wanted to take my RGV, but never saw how to get bike into the show from Cycle World. Was it some $$$ package where tickets had to be bought through the track or something?

That one RZ/RD500 with original air in tires was the one I wanted to take home.....

I just purchased my passes through the track each year. It was advertised on Cycle Worlds site also. The main sponsor this year was Why We Ride so that is what they called the show. They did not do the rolling portion of the concourse this year, just the show. I believe you had to have the 3 day ticket package to qualify for the show since Dorna wanted the bikes there all 3 days. They were pretty lax about coming and going though.

Yea....I really only wanted to hang out in that area on Saturday...3 day ticket pass was more than I would want to spend, when I could get in for $20 on Saturday. I'm kinda cheap at times....

Gotcha! . I do it as a 4 day weekend with my dad & son. We hit as many events as possible. This year I was lucky to find a lead on a Superbike that has been in climate controlled storage for the last 20 years with 5K original miles completely original and unrestored. It's been on my list toward completing my late 70's early 80's AMA collection. I tracked it down and picked it up a week after the GP. You might recognize it, lol! Never, ever thought I would have a chance at a 1982 KZ1000R1.

New fuel line & fluids and the Lawson is running fabulously.

I always thought those were cool. I remember back in the day, I used to see one at the drag strip when I ran my 78 GS1000. They were slow comparatively, but the cut down seat and factory Kerker made up for that with looks. I know prices of those has gone way out of sight, I hate to see what that ended up costing....it does look pretty sweet though.
But if your in that price range, I know one more bike that would help complete that collection.
A 81-83 CB1100R...... Not really an AMA bike though

The 1100Rs are way cool. I have had 2 900 F's and they are good bikes. You're right the ELR's are stratospheric in value. Even 1982's that are ratty examples needing restoration are bringing close to $20K. The much more prevalent 1983's & 84's bring between $12k-18k. I bought the 82 ELR right and already have a standing offer from a guy out west for 2.5 times more than I paid for it. I am not really thinking of selling though.

Interesting, about the ELR that you drag raced against being slower than the GS 1000. This one sucks the headlight out of my stock 1000SN and is as fast as my modded Katana. The handling and power plant of the ELR is super smooth, I see why Lawson won on it in road racing.

VERY COOL Skunk!

I picked up a 78 skunk this summer also. It had been stored most of it's life until 2007 when the owner decided to add performance mods, got distracted and did not finish the ignition install. It is low milage with Kerker pipe, smoothbores, electronic ignition, Accel coils and performance clutch. After setting the timing and cleaning carbs I got her running like a champ.

The tank had pin holes so I threw a 77 750 tank on and am running it "rat rod" style for now and added the race stickers for a cool look. I have not decided how I will finish it, but it is a great bike. I saved the tank for later cleanup and repair. Comparing to my 79 1000S though I really like the narrow look of the 750 tank with fuel door. It was voted best tank by the Davis Brother's at their annual Kokomoto event.

Yea.... My tank is pretty much history. I filled it with vinegar to clean it out, and ended up with about 40 pin holes..top and bottom.
So I'm going to line it, and run it as is with it's sun scorched patina, till I find a better tank.
Which is near impossible, unless you buy an entire bike along with it....
Damn thing sat in the sun for all those years, and after messing around with it a bit, I got it to crank and found 125-130 compression in all 4 cylinders.

I've been so disorganized this past year I have not been really anywhere on any of my bikes, except downtown Indy for the Moto GP this year.
