Re: XR11/73
from pictures I have seen of TR750 dry clutches, it looks like the oil feed is just omitted. Maybe extra drillings in the input shaft?

Re: XR11/73
thanks Old Racer person
I have just spoken to the guy who makes the lengthened input shafts for BDK's dry clutch kit and he says there were no extra drillings specified over a standard shaft - so thats not the answer.

Re: XR11/73
Maybe this would also make the GS tranny good as the input shaft is already longer than the GTs .garry55 wrote:thanks Old Racer person

Re: XR11/73
Looks like BDK does mod the clutch bearing sleeve for oil supply http://bdkraceeng.co.uk/tc/products.php ... th=6_68_79" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: XR11/73
Do you know how much longer the GS input shaft is Dave? I don't have a GS gearbox to compare it with. BDK's shaft is 8mm longer than a standard GT750.Suzukidave wrote: Maybe this would also make the GS tranny good as the input shaft is already longer than the GTs .

Re: XR11/73
no good for my design - I need an extra 12mm adding to the input shaft.
where / what is the modification to the clutch bearing sleeve? I can't see anything from the pic in their advert. Also, having re-read BDK's advert, they do actually mention that the crankcases have to be modified. I missed this first time around

Re: XR11/73
Not 100% sure but i think i read the dry clutch needs the needle bearing in the clutch and i dont think the stock sleeve for the needle bearing has a oil hole in it . I wonder what changes have to be made to the cases ? 12mm longer input shaft .. that wouldnt fit behind the side cover or you have plans for a spacer behind it ?

Re: XR11/73
the needle roller bearing that the clutch primary gear wheel sits on does have an oilway in its shaft sleeve - I believe this is fed via the input shaft oil feed that can't be used with a dry clutch.
Measuring my "J" motor (the "M" motor I am dry-clutching is away at my welders) shows that there is insufficient clearance to allow the clutch basket to move outwards by the 8mm mentioned by the guy who makes BDK's lengthened shafts- 6mm is the max. So I'm guessing this is where the cases need modding to allow the basket to move further outwards. I also think that the casting directly behind cylinder #3 crankwheels requires chamfering, as Suzuki have partly-done to allow clearance for the top edge of the basket (where the steel band is fitted and the basket is slightly wider). All this is do-able, but I need to investigate further before getting the Dremel out

Re: XR11/73
Looks in good shape i suppose it will take some different machineing in the primary shaft end for the seal being you are running a dry clutch ?
