Hey there, i have been looking for rearset on my 550 cafe for some time now, but i cant really figure out where to bolt them on frame. I am planning to make them my self. But some detail would be nice.. Maybe pictures from other 550's to get some ideas...

Thanks

Allan, in my 'Pipe' post just above, you will see rearsets as supplied by Titan, should give you some ideas.

It did give me some ideas.. But after having looked on several gt 550, i still cant see where or how they put the second bolt... One is just on front of the exhaust hangers, where the passenger footrest normally is, but you need two bolts to get a rigid mounting point.. Some close up photos would be really nice :roll:

It's a long time since I had a 550....are they the same as the 750? The arm that supports the pipe has 3 holes in it...1 for the pipe, and one for the pillion peg, and another for?....
Anyway, does this help?

Its the same i guess.. I think i will use these two holes then make a spacer for that front hole with M10x1.25

Yes, we supply a spacer with the rearsets...a piece of 20mm rod about 15mm long from memory.

This project is a bitch... :evil: After trying to figure out were to put the mounts, and how to find the right shape, i now have a new problem.. Kickstarter-clearence issues.

Will the kickstarter clear the gearlever on those aftermarket rearset??

Use the electric start not the kicker. Take the kickstart lever off.

Okay, the kickstarter is pretty much just for the looks now. But i did find another way of mounting the rearset...

Still a little work to do, but its getting closer... All work is being done without modding the frame, so it can get back to original if needed.

Here are some details.. http://Www.allansgarage.blogspot.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The rearsets in the link are forward of where ours mount, which is why they are fouling the kick starter. We don't have that issue with ours........

had this problem w/ a kick start only Yamaha. instead of the "banjo" mounts at the end of the rods, I replaced them w/ "hitch pins".1- unhook the hitchpin, 2- the rod and brake lever "rotate" out of the way, 3- kick away, 4- rehook the hitchpin
