Still a work in progress, but its getting close. Fluke meter is my exhaust gas temp gauge for right now.

It looks a lot better with the rack off, but its a waste not to have some place to put stuff.

Front fender is off a Kaw S3 triple, bracket was made by me, and chromed.
Headlight bucket was extended 2", and a piece of crap Airtech fairing installed. Should a put my old Emgo Viper on, especially for what I paid for it.
Tank sides were filled in.
Seat was done by me. Kinda plain, but I like it.
Swingarm was braced, with properly reamed (sized) bronze bushings. Made a noticeable improvement in handling, which surprised me. I just wanted the look, but I'll take the handling upgrade. :D
Rear fender was chopped about 2.5 ". Lamp bracket was cut done considerably, and rechromed.

Pipes are NOS FPP's that are for late model GT's, hence the adapters. Actually the center Fpp wouldn't fit because of my brace, so I hacked up a Kaw one, and made it fit. Didn't really care about drilling a hole in this one for my EGT probe.
Pipes will be sold when I get done making my 3 inot 1 pipe.

Enjoy;

Thanks.

Frame still needs to be painted, my RE5 wheels need to be polished, and relaced with stainless spokes, plus not all of the engine covers have been polished yet........I still have a long list to do.

That is really nice. Congrats. I was never a big fan of the look of FPP clamp on mufflers, but the fact that they are large diameter aluminum should be a big plus in terms of noise. I just bought a couple of lengths of Aluminum tube to replace the muffler on my Strader 3 into 1 to try to take some of the sting out of the exhaust note.

I may have been smarter to just but a clamp-on from Aaen in Racine WI.

I'll be very interested to see your 3 into 1 when it's done.

Richard,

These FPP's are louder than the Denco's on my H1, by a decent amount. If I was going to keep them I would modify them with internal stingers. Right now it sounds like a pop corn maker on roids.

I don't have the main jets right (too rich), but it doesn't have the top end I thought it would. FPP's for the Kaw triples rev to the moon.
So, its either too rich or the air box is to restrictive, even though I opened up the sides, and the back snorkle.
I'll play with the jets, and maybe run it with out the box, and see how it is.

My 3 ino 1 is going to be kinda crazy, hopefully it works.

On an RD or RZ, those FPP pipes are all top end and they rev really high. One problem with a GT is the extremely low exhaust port roof which restricts power and revs significantly. If you port it to work with those pipes it may not work so well with a 3 into 1, so don't go stark raving mad on the ports.

On a J/K/L block 6mm is enough. :? :wth:

I know what you mean, seems like there is always something to do to get finished. Very nicely done!

I raised them to just slightly higher than MAB specs, which isn't that high, but I squared them off as much as I thought I could get away with, more like a modern snowmobile port. I think this tends to give the exhaust note more of a sharp "crack" to it, rather than a softer "pop". Makes the pipes ring too.

Thanks,

I'm just glad I got it to the point were its ride-able. Top end is new, but the bottom end has 25,000 on it, and I don't think its ever been opened up. I'd like to rebuild my spare motor for next year if I have time.

Correct that a squarer top gives a stronger power pulse and more/sharper noise.
