I wasn't kidding....you should clear coat that thing. Those forks look great...you are really going full bore on this thing...I'm loving it.

I'd go with the clearcoat, but as the supplier I am a little bias lol

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
I popped over to watch the CMRC racing at Silverstone on Saturday, there were some very fine machines thrashing round. No photos because the camera/batteries decided to play silly buggers. I did pick up my Seeley tank and bling rear shocks from Porno Pete however. The tank juxterposition is still a little bit off but I've still to play around with the rubber cushions.
Also ordered up some 12mm 6082 T6 alloy plate to make the Caliper hangers, I'll be busy with a Bastard file for few days this week.
At fecking more than the cost of a set of calipers for a bloody superbike I have ordered 2 AP Lockheed twin piston "Classic" numbers from Harris.
What fun.
Cheers Geoff

The tank looks real nice. How are you mounting it to the frame?

Rather simply, Chris. All done with with elastic bands, although I will substitute the bands cut from an old inner tube for some appropriate O-ring type jobbies in due course.CJF wrote:The tank looks real nice. How are you mounting it to the frame?

I have bought a Triumph type rear hub manufactured by a company called Minnovation Racing. Here it is in all it's glory. A nice piece of work:

Yeah, I didn't get much change after the "ching" bit. Well worth it though, now to find some sprockets to go with it.Suzukidave wrote:Cha ching

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
It's like Christmas every time you post. That is a nice setup. there is a guy in NYC that does a lot of business with them. He builds some killer Norton race bikes and is a top racer here. I've been thinking about how I can do a rear disk on a t500 cafe I'm building. Probably won't go this route since it would cost more than I bought the hole bike for , but was looking for another model that I could potentially swap a spoke wheel rear disk back end. Been searching a lot, but no luck.
Decided which chambers you are going with yet?

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Hi Chris,
I am on the trail of an already race prepared T500 engine. The guy who has it for sale also has a set of hydro formed T500 pipes (forget the name he mentioned). These should match the porting on the barrels but he is really wanting to keep them for a future project. He is more than willing to pass on the dimensions however so I might end up making (or getting made) a set of cones to replicate these pipes. The choice of pipes was always going to be tricky as they are not exactly falling off the cottage industry production lines. Each "Tuner" has their own preference and most are bespoke made to match (hopefully) their own favourite porting specs.
BTW I think I have seen the US Norton build on the web (well tasty). In fact that is how I found the Minnovation Racing link and their rear hub. I am also using AP Lockheed calipers so his rear set-up is the inspiration for my own. I have actually designed, and hacked out of 6082-T651 alloy, the caliper carriers, but although functional they do not match the lovely pieces of engineered kit I have been privileged to buy from the professionals.
Regarding a disc set-up on the road going T500 I would have thought it was easily possible. Even in the UK there are loads of rear caliper/master cylinder sets on eBay. You just need to source a rear hub with disc and fabricate the neccessary caliper carrier, spindle spacers etc. and you should be in business.
Cheers Geoff

Added an AP Lockheed Racing 2-piston caliper today. To my relief I had actually got the tapped mounting holes in the right places

You might lift the back wheel off the ground with a set of those on the front. Looks great with the adapter plates you made up.
