Nice pics Kevin and congrats on more records.

Busa, great to see you both at 131. That bike sounds like mine: Designed to do one thing and used to do something completely different and lots of fun.

Kevin set the record yesterday in qualifying for the fastest GT750 dragbike of all time. Currently at 9.391. Amazing!!

The live feed started out ok, and went downhill fast. The posted videos are very good, but no Super Eliminator coverage.Congratulations Kevin on the new number, that is a quick Buffalo! Alex Hughes also put Bill Baxters H2 in the 7.9 something zone. Normally aspirated I might add. Glad to see another place for the 2-strokes to run.

Kevin did you back that up with another run and put it in the books as the fastest 1/4 mile ET in the history of mankind?

And do you have any video of the runs to share?

Thanks guys!

Yes...it's an official National Record in the Modified Class as well as the All Time Quickest GT750 of any displacement or configuration.

We ran the first two qualifying sessions into a 15-25 MPH head wind but our third qualifying round happened Saturday night at 9:30pm. The air was perfect and the track stayed sticky. I raced Scott Allen on his Kawasaki H2 Altered. He got me at the tree but I drove around him at the 1000 ft and ended up running the 9.391 ET.

The next morning was first round eliminations and I paired up against Perry Paugh from OH on his 1999 Turbo Busa. It was a great race. We were less than 1 foot apart at the finish but Perry won the round. However, I ran a 9.341 on a 9.340 dial in. So the third round qualifier actually backed up my first round elimination pass and set the record at 9.341

Fortino/Miller and Force set the original record in 1977 of 9.478 ET. They ran a 9.38X which backed it up but lost the time slip. Because the 9.38 was more than 1% faster than the 9.478, the official record stood at 9.478 for 39 years....and fell last weekend.

I got a chance to talk with Fortino and Force on Sunday. They were both very gracious. It meant a lot to me.

Interesting bit about Fortino/Miller loosing the record et slip! I saw them "back in the day" at Great Lakes Dragway. Not only is your Buffalo quick, but looks like a consistant bracket bike too. Nice work.

Congratulations on that new all time quickest ET. That's quite an achievement - and a really low number for anyone else to try to beat.

Kevin did a great job. He has to be an accomplished engineer to get his whole combination working together like it does.

Things were much less complicated back in 1977. Rob's record still stands at 9.478/139.10. Gotta wonder how fast it would have gone with nitrous, a lock up clutch and an air shifter. We didn't lose the record ET slip back in '77, just the back up slip. If I could figure out how to attach it, I'd show it to you.

Youre correct.... Miller's record still stands and I hope it continues to stand for another 40 years! I misspoke. It was not my goal to take that record. Only to make the quickest pass on a GT750 and back it up.

The Miller/Fortino record is safe and will likely never be broken....and, it truly is amazing to me (and everyone else that might understand) that Rob was hand-clutching and foot-shifting that bike on the record run. It is incredible to this day what they accomplished. Rob Miller, Richard Fortino and Vic Force are friends of mine and that will also not change. I admire them and have great respect.

Thanks Kev. Honestly, I am hoping the NA record of 9.478 will be bettered by another friend who is, as this is written, building a new GT750 dragbike for just that purpose. Now tell me how to post pictures on this website, will ya???

"Porter" I should have figured out that was you!!! I thought it was Joe Alexander...

I hope R. Nowson chases that normally aspirated record with all his might. I know he is putting in considerable effort right now and hopefully we see him at Martin in July.

As far as posting pics...I use Photobucket. You can google Photobucket and sign up for free. Its a hosting website. Very easy to transfer pics from your phone or laptop with their Upload button or by dragging the image over. Then they provide a link called IMG which you copy and paste onto whatever forum you want to post on.

I can post your time slip if you like. Ill probably get it on the forum before you do since Im faster than you....
