Welcome and you are lucky to have one. Do you live in Europe by any chance?

The motor made pretty good horsepower at 116.

Does anyone know what the mods were to allow the motor to produce such numbers?

116 would be slightly more than the figure Suzuki claimed for the TR750/XR11, and with those skinny pipes, it would take a lot of work, big carbs pig ports and few other little tricks.

I suspect that there's a certain artistic license at work there.

Terry,
I had a look at the article on that link, and they appear to have taken the claimed TR750 HP and inserted it into the SAIAD Vallelunga specs. Since the Vallelunga was basically a stock K with pipes, stock carbs and velocity stacks, even if it were ported it would have struggled to make 75HP I suspect. I think it's a simple error on that web site.

That said, there is not a whole lot of info available on that bike and several sites mention a racing version with TR pipes and Krober ignition, so I guess if someone said they had fitted a TR spec motor, I suppose they could claim TR hp levels. I would like to see more historical data out of Italy where they were raced in a domestic championship. One poster on NATS thought that SAIAD had converted a couple of TR750 racers to make them into Vallelungas presumably to build the myth about them being legal in a production based series.

It would be interesting to read the facts - anyone in Italy know the full story?

There's one on the UK SOC site with TR pipes, Delorto carbs and points and very interesting (thick) spacer behind the alternator cover, making wider than ever.

Suzuki Dave has a picture of Fabio Sartini at Santamonica (now known as Misano) and it looks as if it may be a TR in Vallelunga clothing, so the plot thickens.

Last year, it produced a peak RWHP of 122.5 I agree with Richard, those carbs and pipes look a little small to support the kind of porting needed to get to 116 even if that where BHP.
