I was planning on cutting off the steering head and moving it back and down, but chickened out at the last minute.

Allan, not to send you off at a tangent, but Bandit 12 with VFR SSA is a great basis for a trick streetfighter. there have been a few in Streetfighters Magazine from the UK.

BTW, how long is that swingarm ?

Richard try to stay focused here,LOL yes i know it looks damn good in there BUT i want that SSSA unit for my GT750 project BECAUSE i need the space on the rh for the two pipes on that side to tuck in close.
Yes i know i could get another one and fit on this Bandit frame but to keep things in perspective id rather just rebuild the GSF1200 bitsa as a bike i can finish in a certain time frame but still do some minor mods to it.
I'm more focusing on the colour scheme and bits and pieces, not trick swingarms for this one.
I see you want me to get FURTHER off track than i am already,,NOT!!!,,,,,,,,
The length of the SSSA from pivot to eccentric barrel centreline is approx 23 inches, the Bandit with the setup as shown in the pic works out with the WB at approx 56inches. This is with the eccentric barrel facing up and forward of the centreline.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Allan, One of us has to finish last. Dave is way ahead on the GSXR EFI GT XLT alphabet soup special. I decided to increase the order of difficulty for extra points (bloody olympics have a lot to answer for) and now I'm building two more or less at the same time and my TZ came back from the welder, so now I have three major projects on teh go and neither the time nor teh cash to finish anything.

Me, trying to divert your attention?

That SSA really does look good in that bandit and with a fat offset wheel is could be a winner........

Check out Motorbooks Workshop, How to Build a Pro Streetbike by Mike Seate. P112- 125 for a well made but not very exciting example or almost any copy of Streetfighters magazine...

Or try these for ideas,

But take teh idea a step further and slam it and fit a really fat rear tire - you would be ahead of the curve.

Don't knock it if you haven't tried it

A remount of the parts onto the Buffalo frame shows the WB to be 59.5 inches approx.
Again with the eccentric barrel ahead of the centreline, i plan to keep it in this general position with the chain adjusted and cut to length.
Luckily with the SSSA its all been added out back of the swingarm pivot, and as the 02 GSX-R 1000 forks have literally no offset, steering inputs will quicken somewhat, actually a lot if you think about it versus a stock Buffalo.
I'm happy with it being pretty close to a stock WB for what it is, and the frame will still be flexy in some way regardless of how much gusseting you put in.
There comes a point when the diameter of the tubing is just too small for the intended purpose, heres that moment.
Richard the purple combination looks good, but the colour, oh the colour, it would give me a headache looking at it for too long.

Waay too much purple for my tastes. I saw a 12 Bandit in a French mag teh other day with a sixties style cafe seat and the back of the tank trimmed at the lower edge so it had a sort of sixties meets 00's sort of look. Almost retro cafe style street fighter with minimalist bolt on subframe.

Are you sure that the forks have zero offset. You'll end up with a lot of trail (less offset = more trail). My 2001 750 forks have about 30mm between the steering stem and fork tubes.

Zero would have the fork legs and stem in line.

60 inches sounds right where mine is.

Richard,, pppllluuueaasee, i used the word "literally no offset" as a loose term, oh you would have to go and get all technical on me now will you.... LOLOLOL.
COMPARED to the Buffalo and old triple tree designs, its literally got no offset. and the same as the ones you got at 30mm.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

I hate the color of that Bandit! I mean HATE!

Lane
If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........

That is the nastiest purple I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. But, to each there own, somewhere, someone thinks it is the best thing ever. God Bless Them.

Oh you literally mean it has literally no offset. That sort of metaphorical literally.

As in the old SNL skit from years ago - I caught an encore presentation (no repeats anymore!) the other day.

Sorry no work on the SSSA bike, the 69 Titan is in first place at present since its a simple bike to restore and ive got too much parts s*** lying around.
TODAY the Titan frame went for blasting and priming, and i get it back tomorrow, so ill post some pics.
Once i see how it came out ill send the GSX1100 one up for blasting, after that its the bitsa Bandit 1200 frame too.
Can you imagine four bikes in various stages of nothingness,,, i have a bad case of boxopia, as in everything in boxes.
The last problem i had for the SSSA project bike was getting a set of GSXR footrest assys which i now have, and they are lying on the mock up bike so i see them everyday.
A few times ive offered them up to see how the position looks and its promising, some custom bracketry is in order for making up the mounting points..
