What late model swingarm will fit GT750?
Looks like I may not be getting my swinger back (1982 GS1100 aluminum swingarm).
So I would like to know what late model swingarms will fit without making my wheelbase too long?

Haven't heard anything from the guy modifying it in a couple of Months. Was supposed to get it back before Christmas. Since I have to start all over, maybe a different one will be better. I am puttin on a 17x4.50 rear wheel.diamondj wrote:Zooke,
Why are you not getting your swing-arm back? I have a couple of ally GS1100 arms if you need one.... Let me know.

Hmmmm... Is this the guy that made the sweet T500 swing-arms? Maybe he's just backlogged with work. Somewhere I have an Aprilia banana swing-arm that I decided was too heavy for a T500. I can dig it out and take some measurements if you're interested?Zook-e wrote:Haven't heard anything from the guy modifying it in a couple of Months. Was supposed to get it back before Christmas. Well... the Aprilia S/A is for an RS125. Roughly it's 8.5" across at the pivot point, 8.25" wide at the rear axle from inner face to inner face, and about 19.5" from pivot center to the innermost edge of the axle adjustment. It looks a lot like this one:

But I don't think you could run a 4.5" rim with this swing-arm. My GS1000 has a Metmachex swing-arm on it that's the same width as the stock GS swinger and it will just fit a 4.5 " wide CBR rim with a 150 Avon.
I also have a Kawasaki swing-arm that's got the factory bracing on it. I don't recall what model it's for but it would fit a 4.5" rim and 150 rubber easily. I think it's a bit longer than you want though at 21" from the pivot center to the front edge of the axle slot. If it's not too long, I'll take measurements on it and post up some pictures....

diamondj,
While the Aprilla arm looks nice, it's not really what I am looking for. Seems like the GS1100 arm is what it is asking for. I hate to have to buy another one but...how much is yours?

Let me dig though my shop and see what's out there. I know I have a GS1100 S/A there but you may need to find some retainers and axle adjusters as I don't think they were on there when I bought it - I'll post up pictures of what I find there this weekend.

Eric, Ive got a couple Katana S/A's here. Ive also got a GSXR aluminum that is Bighole's too. It is too wide for the frame on my 550. It may be OK for a 750. If not, I can Machine it down like I did for John (bighole). If its OK with John of course. I think its about 2 inches longer than stock from pivot to axel. Not sure if a 750 swinger is the same as my 550 piece.

I'd really like to use the GS1100/Katana aluminum swinger. I was having it shortened by having the pivot cut off and moved backwards so as not to affect the rear layout. I would like to to have the swinger modified so is no more than 1/2 inch longer than a stock GT750.durgam wrote:Eric, Ive got a couple Katana S/A's here. Can you do that?

Yeah probly. I have a guy do my welding for me. I can do the machining, and have him weld it up. He's been welding stuff for me for years now. Since you just need the pivot tube moved and shortend, thats pretty easy. What do you plan to use for bushings and bearings in said swinger.
When I did Johns, i made him up a new bushing from stainless to accomodate for the smaller pivot bolt from the TL swinger to the Katana frame. Sometimes this can be done with off the shelf roller/needle bearings.

Whats your deadline for this project? Ill get it going whenever needed. I think that John said that this was from a GSXR of sorts. I ll look through the microfische to find what exaclty its from.
Give me a measurement of the outside of the stock swinger pivot tube with all the bushings and outer caps installed. Preffereably with something more precise than a tape measure. This is the target length needed to fit tight in the frame.
