96 Katana
I purchased a complete 96 600 Katana with a bum engine and guess what the frame is wide enough to stuff a GT750 motor in as its even wider across the head than a GSXR750 hummm i need to decide stock engine or GT750?

Wasnt there a Kawasaki list guy that stuffed a H1 in a Ninja frame . I was making some measurements tonite and the GSXR , 600 Katana and 1200 Bandit are all right at 24" from the center of the swingarm pivot to the rear edge of the front tire and the GT750 engine is 15" across the cylinders .rngdng wrote:I'm supposed to have a 600 Ninja coming my way as well.......hmmm, I have spare engines!

Dave,
IIRC he stuffed an RD350 into a Ninja frame to make a Ninjette, then someone stuck an H1 into an RD frame and of course there are a couple of ZXR framed triples
For this one you could try a streetfighter or modern standard ZRX/bandit type look with a GT motor.
For a stretfighter I'd tune it and use flatslides and port it and steal that VFR SSA from Allan when he's not looking for a radical look.
For a Modern standard I'd go with reeds and EFI if/when that works for a smooth modern unstressed feeling.
Maybe do one of each for a complete set of updated GT750s

Dave,
Remeber that frame I bought from Cooter's at the Gap this past spring...?
Finally got the new swingarm machined down, new bearings and axle made. Now I can work on getting the buff motor hung...
Shhhh...
Top secret!

Well not to be out done by Sundial Eric with his 4 smoke rebuild i figured while i am swapping engines i might as well clean this thing up so i have stripped the frame down to nuts n bolts and have been bead blasting , sanding and refinishing most everything . Today i was off so i started putting it back together and it sure is nice assembling nice clean fresh painted parts

Kevin , this one's going back together pretty stock execpt for maybe the paint work i will check the fork size as they are fairly light and it seems like both front rotors weigh about the same a 1 GT750 rotorwater cooled wrote:excellent Dave....looks like the start of something great.
