the gt350 ramair project is go :D
no 305cc or 315cc, this is a 347cc, standard ts185 pistons in it, when they get here :D looking forward to a new adventure with a standard gt250 engine, photo's as and when we get the pistons and start in earnest :) from the outside the bike will look [mostly] like a pretty standard gt250m - apart from the swingarm, i've used a different one without the passenger footrests on it - and hopefully it will go like stink  lad i'm building it for wants it in 1974 gt750 maui blue metallic colours, but better than the candy lavender he wanted at first i suppose :D
cheers, dd.

er, yes, i think you may be just a tad biased :D lovely restoration, but i wouldn't dare ride it. this one will be aquablasted where it needs it, powdercoated where it needs it in satin black, gloss black too shiney. and just generally cleaned up. the look i'm going for is just a 250m with just enough subtle differences to make people ask questions like 'why have you got the wrong blue paint on it?' so i can answer 'the same reason i've got a 350 engine in it. because i can'. you know how it goes, then it will be 'the gt350 wasn't a ramair' etc, etc. it wasn't a 350 either :D i'm looking forward to it, it will be a good companion to the gt285, the gt250 big bang, the rgt250 and the gts250 just providing i live that long :D
cheers, dd.

The GT350 conversion sounds like a tasty project DD  I look forward to reading about it's progress.

Yep, the Candy Lavender colour is certainly in your face LOL, but I just love the look. My T500 is actually an "M" but the correct Maui Blue scheme was just too subdued for what I wanted.

Cheers Geoff

not much to report really, but barrels are at sep in kegworth, hopefully being worked on as we speak. unfortunately, as it's this time of year they need to do priority jobs first, such as race bikes and believe it or not, tractor parts :D all powdercoating should be done by the middle of this week, so i can at least start putting the rolling chassis together on the bench. when i get the barrels back, i can send them off to a nice kind person who is going to mill the mouths out and match the transfer ports to gt250a size, both on the barrels and the crankcases. crank itself was a newly rebuilt unit, but had conrods with 14mm gudge pins, so i've had to do a conrod swap as the ts185 pistons are 16mm gudge. not too pricey at £60 including vat :D barrel work is just a tad more :( so, no photo's yet. will post as and when.
cheers, dd.
ps, just to add. cylinder heads will be milled out to 64mm and we're going to copy the squish pattern/dimensions from a ts185 head. got to start somewhere :D obviously the depth of the dome will be different, as the ts head is very deep.
