Looks very nice. I like the choice of wheels. I have similar style but with 18" rear wheel on my GT380

I had a GP100 with those style of wheels on it many moons ago. They look quite nice in gold and silver.

They do indeed.

I recently found a GS750/100 spoked rear wheel with disk brake and skinny alloy rim. I might strip that and rebuild it with a wider 2.5" x 18" alloy rim and new spokes and match that to a rebuilt 2.15" front alloy rim on stock hub. I have rims and hubs in stock but I'l have to check for spokes - can always get some from Buchanan's

Or I could just sell it as it is and get on with the next project. :wink: :lol:

I have three other GT750 projects and 3 Cb160s, a CB77, and RD350 drag bike to get through as well and running out of years to do them all.

I have 2 sets of those wheels if you want them I can take them up to 131 this fall
Free of charge....
Off of both of my GS1000E projects.... I’ll never use them on anything.
I have a set of first gen GSXR1100 wheels for my project GT.

I have more projects than years left too I think...

Wheels are 1.85x19 and 2.5x17 .....same as on your yellow GT pictured
Also have a stock GS1000 steel tube swingarm and caliper if of any use...
If you have no use for them, I understand.....I can't think of anything I would ever use them on either

Stone is a 1974 Australian biker film.....these bikes remind me of that movie....or the fairings anyway.

Thanks Randy. Let me get back to you on those before 131. Swingarm would def be useful. Can't use it on my GT750 drag bike but it might work on a street GT750 to fit a disk rear wheel.

I will have to dig out my DVD copy of Stone to see what fairings they had. I remember them as small bikini Emgo types but I could be wrong. Mad Max bikes has similar fairings but they came from LaParisienne, a Melbourne based supplier of French shocks and those fairings. Owner was Bertrand Cadart (spelling could be wrong of course).

A long time ago: or should I say once a upon a time... I had one of those fairings. It was the one that LaParisienne used for trade shows with the headlamp blocked off and painted with a large frog where the lamp would go. That was back when I had a shed full of RDs and CB77s and a customer TR500MK111 to complete. That was a couple of lifetimes ago.... :?

Randy, I know you're bringing the cbx in the fall, but I was curious if you were looking to build a lightweight gt750 or even 550?

Now that is a very interesting idea. It would have to be much lighter than a 750 and could be a fast bike with the right ports and pipes.

I pout the Dunstall on ebay last month and didn't reach close to what I had expected. Could be because it was late in the season or perhaps there's no love for a Dunstall GT over here.

As I dragged it back into the shop, I had a good look at it and was surprised that some parts had not aged well at all. There must have been a slight weep of brake fluid and it has lifted powder coat on the top triple clamp and on both calipers. Calipers had been rebuilt a couple of years ago and painted with caliper paint. Turns out that it is not brake fluid proof, so next I tried epoxy paint in a can and it was only a touch better at brake fluid resistance.

So off they came again. I stripped and cleaned them and this time I have tried VHT high temp paint which was then baked at 200f for an hour. Supposedly that's the magic trick.

Then I ordered up a bunch of shiny mirror polished stainless steel from the UK to add a little bling. Top triple clamp went back to the powder coat shop for a new fresh coat of low gloss black.

Next task is to lower the seat height. I had fitted 320mm shocks with reservoirs and those plus the high seat courtesy of Mr Dunstall and the taller rear tire all add up to a high chair. I tried it with stock shocks but they look horrible, so I'm looking at lower height rear tires. It has a 130/90-17 rear 712 Shinko with 665mm diameter. I am now looking at 180/80-17 options to drop it a little. BT45 is 638mm and Avon AM26 is 640. Continental have a good tire but I can't find the specs on line.

17" rear wheel is small, even with 320mm shocks you are lower than standard.

The rim is smaller, but the wide tall tire more than makes up for that. I'll get some dimensions.

The real issue though is the seat which is really high. Interestingly the seat shape is slightly different (flatter) than the Dunstalls that Andy, Adam and Scotch have. I should be able to shave at least an inch out of the foam at the front end

Oh, right. I wouldn't have thought the tyres would have been that tall.
I'd be interested in your comparison measurements.
I bought a Dunstall kit for the 550/380 some time ago, but never fitted it, so I can't say if it's taller, wider or any different to standard. I keep looking at it, hung on the wall, and every time think of my back, so I expect it'll get sold on soon!
