Dave,

Are you and Ryan going? I would really like to see some great pictures from the trip if you guys can post some. Who knows, maybe next year, I'll throw a street tire on the back of the GWB (great white buffalo) and join you. I just need a really long extension cord for the battery...

Is your EFI bike going? Give us details.... :D :D

Oh Yeah , the Suzuki group will be at the Gap again this year :D and we always get lots of pictures . Because i didnt work on the EFI GT its still still in my living room so the 1200 Bandit will again be in the trailer along with a SV1000 and a 900rr Honda . If you and Richard could make the trek down to the Gap it would be great to see you both :D

Won't be making it to the Gap...maybe the fall meet... Too much stuff going on in life right now...

Plus the GT isn't finished yet... Needs ignition, head work, clutch finish, and chambers...

Tom is still here lurking...at least I think I am... Just trying to get a break from work and other "Honey Do's"... Cleaning up some H2 parts and listing them on eBay..no more case reeded JB Weld Special... I hope to get some time once summer comes to find someone who can jet my cones in stainless (biggest part of the build left) and TIG up some pipes... Plus I have to restore the 76 GT250, freshen the GS1100, and get back to the asphalt up restoration of one of our TR6's... Yeah..I got plenty of stuff to do.. Tom

Redundant for my FB friends... After almost 6 years, the GT is up on the bench and I got some ignition work completed. Converting to 1st Gen RX7 electronic ignition. Got the ignitor box mount welded on and the reluctor/pickup mounted. Hopefully it won't take long to finish the ignition and then I can switch over to putting the dry clutch together... It felt good!!!

About time! Good to see you Tom.

If you stroke it more than twice; you're playing with it.

Too many bikes, too much time, ENOUGH SPACE, FINALLY! Never enough money.........

Made some progress since the last post with all the Christmas hoopla and work. Got in a replacement gel cell battery to replace the one that has been in the bike for the last six years sans charger... Just a little 12V 5AH unit like in emergency lights.. A new 525-108 chain should arrive tomorrow so the front sprocket (12T) went on.

On this 250 the clutch release is pusher->hardened washer->clutch pressure plate... It looks like later versions used a roller bearing. Having used a ball bearing pusher on the H2 I ordered a bearing from McMaster yesterday and it was delivered today. It has a 10mm ID and a 25mm OD....the 10mm fits perfectly on the pusher stub.

Image

There was enough adjustment in the actuator and rods to accommodate the width of the bearing..it looks... If anyone wants to try this...here is the bearing I ordered...

Image

It looks like the dry clutch will all come together once I finish the final prep on the side cover. Here's the primary driven gear with the spacer in place that the seal will ride on.. The spacer is the shiny steel piece between the gear and basket in this photo...

Image

And the seal on the spacer...

Image

And seal and the basket mocked up...

Image

Rather than use the two H1 coils with primaries in parallel, I had this Emgo dual tower coil show up today. Will need to fabricate a mount... It should work well with the Mazda igniter in wasted spark mode.

Image

I also managed to finish up the ignitor mounting/wiring and welding the pickup to the stock points plate. Just need to get a couple long rivets to sandwich the magnet back in between the pickup mount and the mounting plate...took this apart because I didn't want all the welding heat put into the magnet and plastic pickup assembly...

Image

I'll be trimming this ugly chain cover up a bit.. I want to get rid of the "wing" that normally mates up with the chain guard. Probably will saw it off so it matches up with the crankcase extension wing. Will also need to ventilate it under the kickstarter bulge to make room for the shifter lever for the rearsets...

Image

Finally, my ignition cover plate is not the prettiest so I scribed out a replacement on a sheet of aluminum. I'll dish it a bit like the stock cover and polish it up...

Image

Basically, I wanted to show you guys that I am actually trying to make progress on this thing... Take care folks! Tom
