Yamazuki

Some of you may be aware that I purchased a project bike from Ringding a while ago. That project has been a work in progress now for a while. Essentially it is a 1975 GT750 motor that has been transplanted into a 1994 Yamaha FZR1000 chassis. I am in the process of uploading pictures to PhotoBucket and will start to post proggres here. Here is the initial concept drawing for the body design.

I like what you've done with the silencers on those Jemcos, what was involved?

Really nice work there, loved your last bike too.

Have you modified the jemco stingers/silencer dimensions or only shaved the outer tube away like when doing the dg pipe mod on yams?

The Jemcos were ordered with the stingers, they make them like that. In this case the parts were ordered as pieces that were just tack welded. I then modified the individual sections to get the correct fit and routing.

So some progress has been made. A bit slow due to day job pressures but forward none the less. I started putting the rolling chassis together and have a roller again. I also painted the motor black. There are some issues I have to address. My octopus has a broken line that broke off right where it attaches to the center ring so does not look like much I can do to repair it. Ringding has a spare which he is checking out to see if it works OK. If it does I will be back in business. I have to install the Cometic head gasket and the new shiny head bolt kit. I cut and welded the divots in the chambers to make clearance for the shifter and brake. So far so good. Here are some pics.

No that is where the stock clipons mount up under the triple. But good point, these forks are quite long about 2" longer than say R1 or GSXR forks. I looked into installing an R1 front end, but the forks are too short.

Thought I will post some more pics tonight. The build is now in final assembly but I had it running before to test everything and then took it apart for finishing. So some of these pictures are from a few weeks/months ago.

In this picture you can see the cradle frame that holds the motor and also the way the chambers fit.



Here it is at the inspection station getting inspected so I could get the paperwork done. I trailer-ed it there and took it off to ride it into the testing facility. The rules here say you ride it in and out. It passed without any issues even though it had a leaky head gasket.



This one shows some details of the bodywork I made out of 18 gauge flat plate steel. The taillight is from a Suzuki SV650.



This one shows the fairing I made and the headlight is from a V-rod (please don't tell my friends )



This last one is showing the dashboard with the Koso mini OLED display.

I installed a new Cometic gasket and the shiny head bolt kit. The motor is starting to look quite nice.
