Geoff,

Now looking at it closer I see that you are right about the down pipe. I would like to watch him make one of those, I could do the same if I could see it done. I drew my pipes up in autocad then developed out the cones using autocad also. Next time I will save some time and buy the cone layout program as it saves a ton of time (I have used it before for other pipes). I might have a go at making a set of pipes like the ones you have one day when I have some spare time. it would be good to compare them to the pipes I have now.

John.

In the video it shows a quick view at 2:00 min of a bunch of the assembled head pipes ready to use . I bet the sheet metal could be heated and shaped over a hard wood form ?

You are probably right, maybe you wouldn't even need to heat it.

All in the quest for more power, Jim. Sometimes a little thread drift can bring up interesting points

Pete Odell once mentioned to me that he had helped a UK drag racer to develop a T500 that produced 100 bhp (for presumably the fairly short time on the 1/4 mile) so there is plenty of potential.

Cheers Geoff

Didn't Ed Erlenbach "stamp" a curved taper header for his LSR RD400? Of course he also machine his own crankshaft and barrels..

Do the Gt750 and t500'see share "similar porting specs?

I think tz375 might know the answer to that.

Without digging up my old stash of info, I think the relationships, port spreads, and blowdown are the same. Just a difference in where they are located from deck height, if that makes sense. I would certainly think pipes are very close in specs.

Yes, same pistons. I think the Buffalo has longer rods?

Same pistons the buffalo has shorter rods.
I ounce built a 500 using 750 rods and porting.

Essentially the GT750 is 1 1/2 T500s. Of course there are differences but when tuning an engine the same porting specs. can be applied to either sets of cylinders.

The GT750 rods are 6mm shorter than the T500 rods so to use them on a T500 crank you have take 3mm from both top and bottom of the T500 barrels. A common modification, the works TR500 engines went down this route, there are technical reasons why the shorter rods are slightly better (don't ask me to explain though  ). For less than a works engine however the trend for clubmen to use the GT750 rods was probably down to availability, I think you can still get GT750 rods and crank pins etc whereas OEM T500 rods are long out of production.

Cheers Geoff
