I'm very close on gearing. I could try one tooth up or down on the rear, but what is really holding it back is the missing 2000 rpm up top. I have something up my sleeve for next year.

Do you know how to weld Jim? If so I would have a go at making a set of those. Honestly it costs very little for materials to make a set of pipes, the silencers are the most expensive part. One sheet of 20 gauge is about $25 as I recall.

Hello John,

These pipes & silencers were made made, and custom fitted to my Seeley chassis, by Tony Green. He is a renown builder of 2-st pipes in the UK.

Probably not a lot of use to you as he makes all his pipes to fit the machine and subsequently your bike can be in his workshop for a period. I am lucky in that I only live 30 minuets from his premises. He raced a Seeley T500 back in the day at international level so has quite a bunch of experience with the needs of a T500/GT750 cylinder.

Cheers Geoff

Geoff,
With those given dimensions it's actually pretty easy (if you know how to layout exhausts) to reconfigure the cones to suit any of our bikes. The hardest part on that pipe is the header which is hydroformed. On my headers I made them up from a series of cones to achieve a tapered header like on your pipe.
Thing is though those pipes might not suit a stock T500 if they were designed for a TR :?

Just looked at the Tony Green website and watched his video's, would love to spend a couple of weeks working with him to brush up on my pipe building skills!

John.

Hi John,

The header pipe section is not hydro formed. Rather it is made from sections that have been rolled AND curved longitudinally, think sort of calm-shell construction. If you look closely at the photo you can see a smudgy lighter line going down the header, that is one of the joins. Tony Green has been a master of pipe construction for several decades and has developed his own way of doing things. He also doesn't use any computer programmes (AFAIK) when designing his pipes, he does however have a wealth of experience and a massive library of pipes that perform for various engines.

These pipes have performed very well on eng #1, which is basically std. Suzuki porting. Power peaks at 7800 - 7900, but the pipes were constructed with eng #2 in mind which should be ported for peak power in the upper 8000 rpm's

Cheers Geoff
