Yes, I told him to call me after he measures them and I will decide if I will purchase Pistons from him (wiseco) or purchase them myself and send to him. I'm hoping I don't need to over bore

Long overdue update. Got my new wheels from Paul Miller. They cost me a small fortune but they sure look nice. Also mounted up some Avon am26 tires front and rear. Picked up lots of shiny engine cover and brake drum bits from the local polisher a few weeks ago. Ordered NOS front fork springs and rear shocks too. The fork lowers were re chromed. Put in some frame bracing too.

Engine work includes new wiseco pistons, cylinder boring, crank rebuild and glass media blasting everything. All work done by Bill bune. Carbs were vapor blasted and rebuilt by me. Got some uni pod filter mounted up- wish they fit better in between the new frame bracing.

I ordered some stainless chambers from higgspeed. I expect those to be made and arrive within about 6 weeks or so. I am getting ready to order a powerdynamo ignition setup as well. As soon as my money tree is harvested again, I will order some rearsets from Titan.

If you went with the shorter early model T500 carb adapters, the pod filters would be pulled forward.

Try an angled &/or tapered filter. Both K&N & Uni have them.

I looked into pod filters for early GT380s/GT550s, which have the carbs really close to the oil pump.
An angled/tapered K&N clears the oil pump. See pic at:

Thank you I will look into that. Is there any downside to using the early model carb holders? I figured they must have changed those out for the longer ones in 1971 for a reason.

In reference to using angled filters, those Uni filters shown above on my bike are actually the angled versions already. in the pictures, I have them both angled inward towards the center of the bike so that they would not hit the frame bracing as much.

I went ahead and ordered the early model short boots. Figured why not? For $30 shipped, I got these reproduction ones.

There is no downside to the shorter intake tracts. Suzuki changed the intake tract lengths in 1973 to detune the engine. The performance of the GT550 introduced in 1972 was no better than the T500, presumably Suzuki decided to detune the T500 to make the GT550 more attractive. Jetting and carburetors were also changed, the 1972 and earlier models used #150 round main jets, whereas the 1973 and later used #97.5 hex main jets. Since your running chambers and pod filters with ported cylinders, you'll need to spend time sorting out the jetting.

Just placed an order with powerdynamo for the electronic ignition kit for my T500. The exchange rate is really good right now, so I got it for $325 US shipped to my door. This is the full street kit for lights and no battery. I didn't want to spend that much but I figured I would be spending $50 on the typanium regulator rectifier, $120 on a Lithium battery and $50 on new points anyways. For an extra $120 or so, I don't need any of that stuff and I upgrade to electronic ignition.

Ordered my electronic ignition from power Dynamo in Germany on Thursday night. I got a tracking number Friday am. Scheduled to be delivered in Wisconsin Monday. 4 days -That's crazy fast service and delivery for a part that is traveling thousands of miles!

Save yourself a lot of aggravation and rubber mount the rear mounts of the higgys pipes. Chambers crack, and stainless is worse about it. And I'm not talking using the hard stock mounts, if they don't flop, they WILL drop....... :?

great, now you have me second guessing my decision to order the higgspeed pipes instead of the steel Jemco's I was considering. Although, if the do crack, I suppose its easier to repair and polish the stainless ones that it would be to repair and nickel coat the jemco's again.

Thanks for the heads up on the rubber mounts.

Go with the rubber mounts, ask me how I know! Over constrained chambers whether made from mild steel or stainless will crack the mounting bracket. Something about coming thru turn 9 at Willow Springs only to realize I lost my left chamber there!

That's why the stock Suzuki pipes have a rubber seal at the pipe/header junction.
