No problem Garry .. this pump is for the early carbed GSXR's so its a low pressure self regulated pump that allows it to run straight to the carbs without a tank and also has a standard vacuum cutoff petcock . I still am considering running the pumps output to a fuel rail with 3 outputs to the carbs . My son replied back after showing him what i purchased that this fuel level warning systen used on this pump may not work with the Koso gauge , he says i need a float type fuel sender so this is going to require more thought on how to get it to work :(

Dave,

You don't need a fuel pump as long as the carbs have large enough float valves.

Yeah .. but i had to have some way of attaching a petcock with a fuel cutoff to the tank with a low fuel warning as i cannot get to that area for a reserve once the tank is on . So this just made it easier :up:

I did some google searching for fuel level hookup problems with the RX2N Koso gauge and just the warning senders on the pump and they too said that the two will not work together well . The suggestion was to put a resister inline to simulate a low fuel reading as with a standard float type sender so the gauge wouldnt show full time fuel level but would display a low level when the intank sensor was tripped .

Richard , i didnt think to check the float valves but dont these snowmobile carbs come with a different float valve size as they all have pumps ?

Yes, typically bikes run a 2.5 - 3.5mm float valve and sleds with pumps are usually 1.5mm. They don't mix and match well.

Later model GSXR pumps use a regular float type fuel level sender. You would need to fabricate an adapter plate to fit a smaller 07 type pump into that larger SRAD housing. Flat steel plate would be sufficient I suspect - if you can seal it or weld it in (the adapter that is)

I have a pump and sender from a 2007 that I have no use for if you want it....

Tonight i decided to strip the 5~34mm carbs i have collected to see what sort of jetting was in them and i found a variety of needles and jets 1~6FM2-60 needle 2~6FM4-60 needle 2~ 6FM6-61 needle 3~17.5 pilots 2~27.5 pilots 2~230 main jets 2~300 main jets all have 1.5 float valves

Dave,

That sure is an interesting set of different jets. I don't have specs on any of those needles, but I suspect that the 6FM7 is leanest and 6FM2 is richest. The same carbs on a Polaris have different numbers - of course.

Reed motors tend to use richer low end jetting because they have less reversion and pick up less fuel.

If you get a chance to measure the needles I can compare them to other 6 series needles and to Polaris TMX and maybe get a starting point for the needle/jet combo.

Dave,

I found that too, but no dimensions so no ability to compare those needles to anything else. The 5/6/ type numbers typically relate to root diameter so a small number is a richer needle from the bottom up. They do that because those carbs come with a cast in Q-6 needle jet, and the only way to change fueling at mid range is to fit a needle that is smaller or larger at the root. Again typically there is a second number that indicates the point at which the taper starts, but they are usually the same taper angle.

For anyone else reading this, we are talking about the snowmobile late type TMX carbs.
