the l/h side carbs, however, do not align as I had to turn the furthest left carb inwards to clear the frame spar. Only way to fit an airbox to these carbs was to saw the box straight across the l/h carb opening....

Image

then fit that section to the carb, overley the other half, mark it and cut that section at an angle, giving me two usable parts and a scrap "wedge" piece..............

Image

fitting the two parts shows I got it near enough.......

to be welded together to make one unit. I'll be doing that at work tomorrow :D

And yes - you are correct in thinking that these are not airboxes in the truest sense. They are there to prevent the carb slides from fluttering at speed.

and - I have 4 sparks

It looks increasingly like the Zeeltronic unit left the factory with no ignition maps loaded ( there are other RGV owners who have suffered the same frustration as me).

Is it very difficult to create the map to run your engine on ?

No Dave - I just run a standard RGV250 map as it is 2 of those motors conjoined and the crank is phased so that the top cylinders both fire together, as do the lower 2. So one spark signal can fire 2 separate coils and 2 separate cylinders.
It runs like this so no undue loading is put on the crank centre joint.

Yay

and yes - it is missing 1 stinger - it "fell off" when unloading the bike from the van (top tip -don't use them as lifting handles!)

Gary, if they are the same as the test sample I bought to evaluate, the perforated baffle tube is much larger that teh end pipes and although the outesr skin is pretty thin, they may just work with a small amount of modification

TeeZee -I have binned them now as I am having a set of pipes made which will have the stingers attached.
Just completed fitting and blending the power valves (it had blanks fitted for test purposes), have to make mounts now for the 2 power valve motors.

No worries. BTW, if you have run an RGV you already know this but how you set up the power valves has a significant effect on the shape of the power curve. - at least it did on our RS250 Aprilia Cup bike. With two 65 hP motors connected, you probably want to set thee cables up loose so they open later. I cannot imagine what that beast will be like when it comes on the pipe.

good advice
I can programme the opening curve of the p/v's with the Zeeltronic controller, so we will have a play on the dyno and aim to bring them in steadily. The motors are not tuned, so only around 52-ish hp each.
Wonder what it would be like if I used the 300cc conversion kits..............
