My fingers are getting a bit sore with all this filing, what I need is a vertical Mill . Rear brake pedal just about finished, I still need to rig up some kind of return spring:
I hit the "Buy it" button for a Powerdynamo electronic CDI racing ignition today. It seems as if it should be easy to set up, I hope it generates well at bump starting speeds my aging legs won't take too much abuse pushing it around the paddock
Geoff , get ya a cut off tool https://www.google.com/#q=4+1/2+cut+off ... 0&bih=1017" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you can get different disks for it to cut just about anything sanding disks and grinders , once you have one you will wonder what you ever did without it
I can see that one of those would help when cutting the blank vice a hacksaw, but are they capable of doing the fine reshaping work?. A steady hand would be needed I guess. The basic shape was cut from 12mm 6082 T651 alloy plate and I went from there. The pivot runs on a needle roller bearing, and I have since added a simple return spring which appears to function OK.
For shaping there are grades of sanding disks that will do from fast material removal to just about polishing and then disks for cutting metals even concrete and brick so its a very useful tool . I have a corded one as i am usually by a plug when working but they come battery and even air powered if you have a large enough air compressor . Lots of different prices too , i have seen them as low as 30$ at some of the tool outlet stores here in the US but i dont know how the prices run there .
I used the 12mm plate as that is what I had bought for the caliper carriers (tapped 10mm holes for mounting etc.). I tad over the top for a brake pedal though I will admit. Next winters development programme will be to get rid of all the over engineering and reduce the weight by 10Kg, I'll go mad with one of those cut-off tools .
Next week I am in the USA on a business trip so no workshop time
Washington DC. I'll be staying at the Embassy Suits, Crystal City from Sunday to Wednesday. Free happy hour between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. If you want to join me .
Nice job fabricating the rear fender and brake lever by hand. It's a lot of work, but more satisfying IMO to fab up parts on your own (not to mention less expensive).

The Mk II oil tank in all it's glory. This time stuck together by a welder who really knew how to wield an alloy rod.
UPS were scheduled to deliver the PowerDynamo Ignition unit today, I have been tracking it's seamless progress across Europe on the their web site. It got to London on Saturday, tonight it is located in Newtown Abbey, a suburb of Belfast, Northern Ireland.
I would let out a few expletives but I are a gentleman Ahh, that's better.
The PowerDynamo ignition has finally landed , although I went to the UPS depot myself to collect it.
It appears to be very well made and should be simple to install. The frame will need a bracket of some sort for the coil/electronics but I will get that done with the rest of them in the new year.
Impatiently waiting for the wheels to be built, people just don't do it fast enough. Why can't they drop all other jobs and put me at the front of the que Never mind I have a host of detail work I should be getting sorted.
Good Deal .. looks nice , the only concern may be i read in another section a list member also has the unit and said something about the timing mark not being correct that caused him some stress until he figured it out . I dont know if they fixed the problem .. if not double check the timing Do i see a set of fairings on the beast ?
