I used the same method Lane used and picked up a plastic tool box from Wallmart aka Wallyworld :). I put the crank in the tool box and stuffed styrofoam around it that I picked up dumpster diving in my neighbor's new TV box trash he left out. I then packed it into a box with more foam and bubble rap. It was packed in real good and made it to Bunne and back with no problems. I just send the parts to him and put a letter in the box with what I need and include my phone number. They usuallly call when they get it and then again when its done...which only takes about 4-5 days.

Dave/Chris - Thanks...

I'm having one rod replaced... Will they have any issue sending the old one back to me if I ask?

No problem if you ask for it. i have had them strip a number of cranks and return them in parts for future mix and match.

A heavy-duty plastic toolbox works great. Pack the crank in foam, towels, or whatever. I don't recommend styrofoam "peanuts" because they get in everything. It you bag the crank, peanuts can be used.

My toolbox is a "Tuff-Box". It works great, and Bill Bune thought it was a cool way to ship it.

Got a call from Bune...Crank is on the way back... $127.50 + return shipping... Cool!

Got some time to play yesterday... Reed boxes are all welded up... Still wish I had practiced more with the TIG....FIRST!!!!!

Yes! Same that I used on my H2... These boxes are actually welded up from 6 different pieces each...

Well...Looks like I have almost all of the pieces in-house...now for the elbow grease...

Crank just came back from Bill Bune... $127.50 plus return shipping... I supplied all seals, bearings, a rod, a crankpin, and the big end bearings and thrust washers... Notice the black pins in the un-grooved bearings... I'll need to pull the dowels for these from the cases and drill new recesses for the pins....but at least the bearings are available and cheap... 30/40HP Tohatsu outboard crank bearings... Part number 312001140 purchased from Solomons Boat Rental and Sales in Solomons, Maryland... Both bearings for $39.14 including shipping....

Plan to finish mounting the reed boxes and begin porting this weekend... Also picked up a snazzy mini taillight assembly...

Also, I asked for one of each bearing/seal to be returned (for possible future alternate sourcing) along with the rod and pin... I got back ALL of the old parts neatly wrapped up separately. Cool!

That's the same tailight I used on RedZone. I had to drill new holes to mount the tag. The slots on there are not far enough apart to fit an Oklahoma tag. That also allowed me to raise it

Got some time in the garage this weekend and decided to tackle the largest non-engine related task left...seat/taillight/battery tray....

The tray has two holes to locate two rubberized pins attached at the kick-up in the seat back to secure the rear and then two bolts through an original crossmember for the front... Tail light will get recessed once everything is in it's final place...
