Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Hi Richard, rain outs are no fun but we did squeeze in two Qualification Rounds on Saturday which was enough to set (and backup) a few records. Im waiting to see the official word from the Super Eliminator committee on how many were set but the conditions were good on Saturday morning and afternoon.
It was also great to meet Ray (Busa) who came to check things out and stopped by the Suzuki GT pits to chat a bit. It was pretty cool to meet him in person.
Although weather didnt cooperate on Saturday night and Sunday, I ran a 9.9952 during testing on Friday, which is a new best for me. I also got my best 60 ft at 1.39 sec on Saturday and best back-half speed at 27+ MPH which is an indication that the bike is producing good HP and pulling hard all the way through.
In addition to meeting Ray (Busa...who I think would fit right in with the SE group), it was also great to see you, Vic Force, Rob Miller, the Fortino's, Joe Alexander, Ed and of course Bob Prior. It was truly an epic Suzuki GT gathering.
I have one more race in November at Valdosta which I have already started to get ready for. After seeing the data logger traces and going through them with Doug Flannery and Bill Baxter, Im going to make a very small subtle change to the clutch to try and smooth out the launch just a bit as I seem to be unloading the tire when the bars hit.

Racing was good but really it's all about the people. Great to meet Busa and his girl and what a privilege to spend time with Bob Prior and the Fortinos and Robin Miller, Vic Force and Joe. Those guys have more national and world records and championships on GT750s than you can count.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Funny you should say that Dave. I was standing near Kevin and looked around and noticed all those pipes, so I just had to go and grab a picture. Both bikes are powered by Polaris snowmobile motors. Very impressive performance. There were three sled motor bikes there this weekend and two GT750s and a slew of H2 Kawasaki triples.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Barry, I dont think there would be any sled videos from this event. The bikes were all run together during Qualifying and even during Test N Tune on Friday. When we weren't racing on Friday or Saturday, we were usually in the pits getting ready to make a run. We knew the rain was coming on Saturday evening so they moved the schedule along fairly quickly to get as much in as possible. As a result, there wasnt a lot of time to take vids of the sleds unfortunately......they are very cool to watch.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
It was cool to meet you guys in person for that short amount of time I was there. That GT750 engine looked beautiful...gives some more inspiration to built one bad ass street bike for myself with my basket case 750.
I had originally wanted to go that weekend to see what it would take to put a snowmobile engine in the YZF750 chassis I have collecting dust........Problem is....I have been watching the Kawasaki video's about the new 2015 H2.
I might end up dropping everything if that turns out as wicked as it sounds...

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Come on. 300HP in a light chassis and all that carbon fiber when you could be racing an 80hp 450 pound fossil.
That looks like quite the weapon. How many weeks before someone gets one on the street I wonder?

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
I don't think Kevin posted this picture yet on here. This is a picture of Bob Prior from Australia, Kevin (watercooled) and Richard Fortino. I wish I could have met Bob, Richard F. and tz375 for the first time and seen Kevin again but it wasn't to be for me this year. What a fantastic group of racers with a huge amount of collective knowledge and achievements representing the GT750's at the track.

Re: GT750 Drag Bike
Great picture. The combined knowledge there is enormous.
Bob just set a 12 second PB on his stock looking street bike in Australia, Kevin is in the 9s and Richard Fortino built what I think was the fastest/quickest 750cc GT750 on the planet.
Bob may not be back next year but let's see if he can be persuaded to come out in 2016 for a blast.

Kevin,
I'm delighted for you. When did the last GT750 win?
Awesome. Congratulations
