Get rid of the radiator and move the sticker to somewhere more prominent.
Maybe I should drag out a street bike and join you hooligans at the track. I'm not so sure about that christmas tree. We wait till the starter twitches and then we go, and no beams to break if we go just a little early.
Kevin, That bike sounded really sharp at 131. Hope to see it run down the track again next year. How much do you plan on reducing weight by this winter?
Not with a tree. I have done "sprinting" which is similar but not tied to a tree. We used to do one race where it was a light goes on/out and two bikes charge down to the end and times were from the moment the bike moves so reaction times were not a factor.
Drag racing adds the reaction time factor - too fast and red light, too slow and lose the race. No pressure to do it right then!
Richard you should come out and play with us..... the more the merrier!
Actually, I'd be curious about what a "stocker" could go. If you're interested, I could build an extended swing arm/strut/wheelie bar combo for the Phat Tracka.............
I've been warned about accepting offers like that from strangers.
the Phat Trakka is supposed to be a no stress low power fun bike, but it's close enough to stock except fro the ports, compression (165psi cold) and pipes. I could always build a new set of pipes and fir those 34mm TMXs or 39mm TMs that are just cluttering the place up.
Maybe I should just get the reed motor done and play with that one. The goal on that is slightly higher HP at much higher revs and it already has a longer GSXR swinger.
A bigger issue is that my race leathers have shrunk a couple of sizes, Good excuse for a new set I guess.
That raises a good point. What is needed to go Drag Racing in SE? I have read the rules and they are a little confusing. What would any of us need to do to bring a bike out to have some fun? Do we need full leathers and road race boots and gloves or are there softer boots we could use? What about bike prep and classes? If I wanted to bring a street 2 stroke out to play, what would I have to do to compete as a bracket racer in SE.
What I need is the Super Eliminator for Dummies book.
I suspect that there's a few guys and gals on here that might like to try their hand at 2 stroke racing that don't want to build a full on 7 second beast.

+1 to that
She will never be pretty but hoping she will be a fun ride.

1) thats all it has to be.
A bigger issue is that my race leathers have shrunk a couple of sizes.
2)Leathers are required if the bike exceeds 120 mph, otherwise just a leather coat, gloves, and boots or high top shoes
3)chain guard covering to at least the centerline of the rear axle
4) working brakes, front and rear
5) throttle has to snap back freely
6) a teather switch

Rick Brett comes to mind back in 2008 at Norwalk. He brought an H2 dragbike and entered that but the bike broke down during test and tune so he entered a completely stock 1975 Kaw H1 that he had just purchased a few days prior and set 2 world records on that bike. He was running something like 14 seconds at around 95 mph. There was also a Yamaha RD350 that was in the 87 mph range. Cool bike. I have a video up on youtube that has RB's run on it if anyone is interested. Kinda funny hearing the powerful sounding dragbikes and then hearing the ring ding of the stock H1 as he worked the throttle at the starting line.
Dave D, I just got your text.... thats a great 60 ft time. I nearly purchased the Rhino battery since they have increased the inventory at the US warehouse. But concerned since the MSD coils will draw more power than stock especially at the high rpms so I need to calculate and determine which battery has enough capacity.
I think you are able to get away with the model you're using but Im not sure I can. May have to bump up a size or two....but still a huge weight savings regardless.
....and, I'll take you up on your offer for wheelie bars if your looking for something to do this winter. I was very impressed with the set you built.
You can go with a 5000mah 4s that would probably be overkill.........I made 3 passes without charging with no drop in voltage, and when I did charge it, the battery only took 950 ma's.......................
