Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Hi Geoff thats a fantastic looking bike I wish you look for the 2016 season. I am in the process of finishing my T500 for the Spanish Catalan championship, Can I ask is there a gauge system to mount on the bike for measuring your cylinder head temp?
Thanks
Eamonn

I am using a pair of TTO digital temperature gauges. The sensor goes under the spark plug and I have the displays mounted on a plate just under the tacho.

Good luck with your season too

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Well, two years after the Seeley T500 ended up on top of the tyre wall at Pembrey we returned for a rematch.
Lovely Friday practice day, followed by torrential rain Saturday and mostly dry Sunday
Race 1 - 3rd
Race 2 - 1st (= aggregate 1st for Sat.)
Race 3 - 2nd (After crossing the chequered flag 1st by 0.2 sec, race result was then given from previous lap)
Race 4 - 1st (= aggregate 1st for Sun.)
Gary May the rider putting up with chatter and an engine not fueling well at low throttle settings. Now leading the 500 A/C championship

Cheers Geoff

We are missing the Croft round in May because it's Gary's little daughters 1st birthday, and family comes first. Certainly hopeful of doing the Cadwell round on the 3-5 June though. If we make it, pop round to our pit and say hello.

Well done Geoff,
Was looking forward to coming along to watch,
But have had some surgery lately and didn't want to get wet.

You would have been welcome to shelter in our pit (big awning, very posh). The Sunday was actually pretty good, mostly dry with the odd spot of rain. Saturday was cats&dogsold racer wrote:Well done Geoff,

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
The rider, Gary May, commented that the front brake had gone off on the last lap at Pembrey. I'm not really surprised, despite keeping a check on pad wear I expected them to last more than 230 miles. Lesson learnt on this one, new pads for each meeting.
Cheers Geoff

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Gary was well happy with the performance of the single disc, said he made up loads of time on the brakes. Judging by the heat discolouration on the disc we might be using a few of those this season too
Cheers Geoff

A couple of photos from Pembrey. Wet on Sat/Dry on Sun.
Rider: Gary May

The Seeley now sports a smaller section front tyre 90/90x18 Avon AM26 to hopefully address chatter problems. We have also changed to a 2.5 slide cut-away (vice 2.0) to lean out the low end throttle response.
Cheers Geoff

Re: Seeley (replica) Framed Project Road Racer
Latest update: Our next outing will be the CRMC Classis Racing Festival at Donington on the 5th - 7th August. Unfortunately we don't have the resources to enter the the rounds at Croft, Cadwell & Anglsey which is a shame because after the 1st round at Pembrey Gary has a 21 point lead in the 500 Air Cooled class.
Still the Donington festival promises to be a smashing event with lots going on beside the regular CRMC races with iconic classic bikes and past/present star riders parading them etc. Live music on Fri. and Sat. I might even be up for a thrash on the dance floor myself
Cheers Geoff

Oh Geoff ! I was so looking forward to seeing you and the team at Cadwell !
The Donington event clashes with work so that's a no go, but good luck (on the track and the dance floor)!

Yep, sorry about that. Going racing, even at the modest club level, is an expensive game. To enter, travel, eat & compete costs around £500+/meeting. On top of that is the continuing bike/engine development etc. and it soon consumes your available finances. I also have two dogs and getting friends to look after the little hooligans when I am away is a problem too. There are CRMC meetings at Snetterton on 27/28 Aug and Silverstone on 8/9 Sept so we may get to go to those.
Cheers Geoff
