Re: TR500 replica build
Hi ChrisK,
That crate seems pretty sturdy and well packed. I hope your build goes well when everything arrives in Aus. Glad you never mentioned "The Ashes" the pain is already too much to bear .
Cheers Geoff

Re: TR500 replica build
Ha Ha! Would you believe I only found out the result of the 3rd test today? Being over here you sort of lose track, too busy going to see ice hockey games! Plus it's very hard to explain a game to the locals that can last for 5 days and still end in a draw, and all for winning a tiny wooden urn with a few ashes inside. They don't get it and I'm starting to wonder myself.Zunspec4 wrote:Hi ChrisK,

Anyway,I do have a foot in both camps, I am actually still a British citizen but an Australian resident.
Thanks for your best wishes.

I'm just hoping it won't be a 5-0 whitewash. Revenge will be ours in 2015.
I just love the Aus-Brit rivalry, something primeval and a great laugh

Yep, it's not life and death, it's much more serious than that!Zunspec4 wrote:

Re: TR500 replica build
The Seeley race engine was retrieved from darkest Peterborough yesterday after attention from our Mr O'dell. Pete re-built the crank with new 750 rods/big ends, outer main bearings (that he can supply), conversion to pre-mix etc. Also fitted a new set of Wossner pistons/small ends. New centre plugs heads (another of Pete's items). Pete also removed the kickstart shaft and supplied the blanking plug, re-timed the ignition (2.9mm BTDC), oh, and also made me a cup of tea .
He also gave me a healthy discount on the parts and labour. My hearty thanks Pete.
Cheers Geoff

Oh that's nice. REALLY nice.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: TR500 replica build
Beautiful motor. But you couldn't find a better set of head bolts than that?

Re: TR500 replica build
Hello Connor,
The head bolts . You are of course right, I actually have a nice set of re-plated bolts in my spares box but I was saving them for a road bike restoration. I promise when the engine is running reliably and has become low racing maintenance I'll get them cleaned and freshened up.
Cheers Geoff

Re: TR500 replica build
The Seeley has started to get back into shape. The engine was eventually settled correctly into place, my back is now killing me
It will be on the "Empire Cycle Corp" stand at this weekends Bristol Classic Bike Show (perversely held at the Shepton Mallet show ground, Somerset ). Still deciding whether to display it with or without the fairing.
Cheers Geoff

Right in my backyard! Wish I knew you were here. Too bad you had to drive all the way to Michigan, I picked up my T500 just over the NY border in Plattsburgh for $250. Wish it had a seat though...
I'll be following this build!

Slow and steady may win the race, but without loud and fast it's just a waste

Re: TR500 replica build
Damn, would have been good to catch up, sounds like you got a bargain. Weather over here is probably a bit better than what you are getting at the moment, low to mid 30's (C) every day. I caught up with Murray Barnard from ozebook.com today, he lives only about 15 mins from me and he is helping another club member here build up a T500 racer as well so we may well do a bit of collaboration.celt_rock wrote:Right in my backyard!
