Recommendation for aftermarket grips on a GT ?

Post by pearljam724 »

I recently had no choice but to cut my originals off in order to replace my handlebar. I bought some cheap grips. The clutch side worked fine. The other grip would not stretch completely over the throttle tube. They are the same diameter and length as the originals. But, would simply not work due to them being too hard and would not stretch enough to cover the throttle tube. The added thickness of the tube actually made the new grip shrink very tight. Leaving it a half inch short. Any recommendations for aftermarkets ? If I can't get a good suggestion on a particular make and model. I believe I'll just have to give it another try with a very soft set. Originals are out of the question. Don't like them, don't want them. Ha ha.

I ended up shortening the throttle tube instead. Cut the end cap of, take off a section and glue back the end cap.

Great idea I don't know why I never thought of it.
