Hi Peeps, just recently come across this forum, what a great find too!. I have a request if I may, does anyone have a photo of a headlight switch for a T500L?, as I am restoring mine which was bought as an unfinished project, oh, only two decades ago now, thought it was time to sort it out. I have one that I think is right but would just like clarification, as i had assumed it shared the same part as the M, but having found a different one in the shed, I don't think thats the case.

Always loved the red and gold........must have had 20 500 twins, and unbelievably never one that colour !
That's going to be a beauty !

The switch below is an early Gt, but it's the same as the T500M, and probably the same as the L. Someone will be along and correct me soon enough if it's not.

Wouldn't be surprised is Suzuki sold the T500L with more than one LH switch design.

This US brochure for the T500L shows that the LH switch is black.
Also has the large headlight on/off switch like shown in titan performance's pic.

I think it may well be that the change over in design is around 73 ish.....but your switch is exactly the same as the one I pictured from a 76 Gt.

That switch shown on the blue bike is a light switch from the 72 GT triples and was only used for one year.
That switch you showed on your bike is from the late 75, 76 and 77 GT triples.
The empty switch case you have was used on the 74 model GT triples, but came in two variants. The one like yours that has 'turn' imprinted in the case and the earlier 74 version of the same case but it does not carry the 'turn' lettering.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

No, I believe it to be this for the T500L --

If form follows function that switch you just posted was for late 75 bikes and onwards T and GT triples.
The casting for that switch should say 577-7 or 577-8 on the bottom of it. The difference being the '7' had no separate ground wire while the '8' has the provision for it to fit into the channel in the lower half.
The one empty shell shown previously unpainted is the one for the 74 model bikes which needs to be painted black with orange lettering.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

this is the correct part.it also fits the 73-74 Gt250 and the73 Titan.(part no 57700-18651).the 75 M is basically the same and also fits the 75 Gt 250.(part no 57700-18652).I had a 74 L in 75.sold it for an XS1.stupid me.

Thanks again guys, I had the part No from the parts book but couldn't find a single pic anywhere for reference, (apart from parts book diagram) guess i'll be restoring another switch then, still, got a nice set of 75 onwards switch gear  and they did serve as a good trial run for painting in the lettering.
