Suzuki 2 Strokes

H,i the name's Chris and I reside in sunny Hampshire UK, this restoration started a year ago and due to lack of funds then a heart op last Sep it's been even slower than was first anticipated !! So from the start;

This is how I bought it, I was out one day and saw a bloke pushing a bike along the pavement, as I got closer I realised he had no helmet and the bike looked ropey so nothing ventured nothing gained, I turned the car round and drove past him slowly and said "do you want to sell it", YES was the answer so we had a chat and I paid him £100 basically for the right to rebuild it






It sat in the garage for the winter and I got started in March last year, it's going to be slow, lack of money and time, I'm in the stage of life where older relatives tend to take priority
So this is it so far.

CHROMING is back!





Zinc plating is back!



Powder- coating + Vapour Blasting all done.









Also have got the forks back from A.J.Philpots, as usual perfick!.
So now my first question
I stripped the forks but did not take any photos, thinking "I'll just look in the the Haynes book of lies when I put them back together
Bollocks, the pic and description in the book is nothing like my forks
I got it sorted and they're OK.

Motor was rebuilt by August last year, and chucked in the frame

I'm going to get it painted the same as my old GT250K, in RED with the white flash on the tank.





I'm on the scrounge for a pair of shocks for it if anyone wants to get rid of any

I've relaced the rear wheel and bought another front one from DK motorcycles and this week got some tyres fitted curtesy of Malcolm Cox in Eastleigh, definitely reccommend him
Well that's it so far and if anyone's interested I'll keep up the pics etc,
PS (I've got a half share in 2.5 GT380's to be rebuilt next )

That is very nice, you'll be riding first class before you know it..

Its looking really good , dont forget to prime the oil injection lines before the first startup .

Nice job Chris, I've a soft spot for the old Ramair 250. I had a blue one back in 1977, and it was a really nice little bike. I toured the west country as far as Landsend, two up with all the camping gear. Quite a trek from East Kent.

VERY nice work, Chris. It's always a treat to see someone going at a job the way, IMO, it should be done. Even though you claim that this is a "lack of funds" resto, you seem to be going first class with everything.
Please keep the pics coming as you go along.

I'm also considering a 250 or maybe a 380 .
these appear to be cheaper alternatives.
ok down in power I know.
according to the Suzuki page it say that the the 250 has 33 bhp!!
honestly I can't see that to be true.

considering that the 500 had 45 bhp and the GT380 is 38bhp.
I would of thought it will be around the 25 bhp mark.

Don't see many GT250's these day's, (in the garage polishing mybe) (£100 call the police somones been robbed) It might help you, if you put a list of what you need, on this forum, and who knows might be people willing to let you have it, to make space in there garage?? There's a few people from the UK, on here ( me to, from herts) so you never know.

Hi All,
It's been a long time and unfortunately the build has stalled due to bad health etc.
The forks and wheels are in, complete with a NOS front mudguard + handlebars etc, but I've decided to move it on and let someone else finish it. I've got all the parts to finish including a new pattern seat and a NOS petrol tank in the correct gold colour and loads of spares.

Thats too bad on both things you have posted .. your health problems and the bike project i hope you find a buyer able to get you even on money spent so far on the 250 , they will be getting a very good start with all the work you already have done . Best wishes from all of us with your health situation .
