New project - A100-2

Post by Ash »

Hey all,

Its been a while since ive been on here, nowhere near enough time for bikes lately unfortunately. :(
That has now changed, I have a new project! 8)

Its an A100-2, unsure what year - anyone?

Its actually in great nick, just very dirty.
It is missing small bits and the rims are trashed, aside from that its complete.
Best of all it was FREE! (save for the 2km hike from its outdoor bush toilet home of the last 30 years to the road)

I have spent today stripping it down and tidying, ill post some pictures tomorrow.
I should be able to try and start by the end of the week.

I want to keep it as it is, aside from new bits as required and a bit of paint on the very faded items.

Cheers,
Ash

Cool little thing - nice find!

Does it turn over? Any info from the previous owner about when it last ran?

I think the Japanese motorcycle industry generally changed over to ISO standard thread pitches during 1967, while retaining the JIS screw heads. Based on the ISO label in the one photos, my guess then would be around '67 or '68 ?

No the owner inherited the bike when he bought the property, it was sitting in the outdoor dunny of an old mine. (last active in the 80's)
I suspect it was used as a runaround for the mine guys.

The engine has very good compression, I don't doubt it will run. 8)
The crank seals would be the only likely trouble, have to cross fingers I guess!

Thanks mate.
I still cant be 100% based on pictures ive found but '68 seems to be closest guess.
