T250R speedo repair

Post by hollabob »

Hi everyone, first time I've used this forum so apologies in advance for any shortfall in etiquette (or spelling)!
I have almost completed the restoration of a 1971 T250R , which has mismatched speedo and revcounter dial faces, probably the result of a visit to the breakers yard back in the days when that was the go to source of spares following any unscheduled dismounts!!
Pattern replacement dial faces are available on line for these bikes, but there does not seem to be any way of getting the intrument apart or the lens off in order to install these. Does anyone out there know how to do it please?? These are the earlier type of instrument housing with a chrome band around the base, not the later T250J/GT250 type where you cut the sealant away and the internals come out. Many thanks and safe riding .
