I would prefer to restore the old carb boots, instead to buying new ones.
Can this be done with relative ease? ( i.e., without complicated machines/chemicals )
If yes, how?
Appreciate any tips/ideas.

Re: GT500: How to restore carb boots?
Forgot to mention that old carb boots have become hardish, and I would like to
make those soft/pliable as much as possible close to new ones.
Even 80-90% close to news is fine with me.
Not expecting to make them perfectly same as new ones.

If yours are not splitting, (maybe even inside) its just a matter of time before they do. The Wintergreen oil route, from what I have read, is a temporary fix at best but how long you soak them seems to be the key to success. Too long and they can swell up larger than you want. Not long enough they can still be too hard or still shrunken. I guess you just have to check on them from time to time. Just Google keywords 'wintergreen rubber' for more info.
If you do wind up wanting new ones.... I bought the re--production ones on ebay recently. I'm very happy with the purchase.
Good Luck
