T250 replacement pistons

Post by Smiffy »

Hi Guys,

First post, be gentle with me.
I am restoring a 1971 T250 and have just had the crank rebuilt. looking at the top end and measuring ring gaps etc, I notice that the 2 pistons are worn & slightly different, so I am looking at some new ones.
Does anyone here have experience with the Cruizinimage pistons listed for GT250.
Are they any good for what will be a weekend rider and will they fit the T250?
I did message them but the guy came back with "I can't confirm if they will fit"
Anyone here who can be a bit more helpful?
Cheers, Smiffy.

Hi,
You should find out the piston pin diameter for your crankshaft.
It will be 16mm at the T250 and you must get such pistons with 16mm piston pin hole.
There are 14mm at later GT250. I think the 'cruz...' offer are Pistons in X7-Style, with 14mm piston pin. They fit also to later GT250 and GT380, but they are shorter at the bottom and the engine becomes a bit more peaky with them.
If you take GT250 pistons be sure to get some for GT250-K or -L, they have 16mm piston pin.
have a look: http://suzuki-gt250.de/motornavi/motor.php?b=3

It's possible to use con rods of GT250M/A/B/C or GT380 with 14mm gudgeon pin during a crankshaft repair, or to use a complete GT250M crank. Then it is possible to use Pistons with 14mm pin, X7-Pistons too.

bye
Markus
