Suzuki 2 Strokes

Is there some sort of swap one can do to change a keyed locking gas cap to a push button/non keyed version?

The guts of my gas cap lock have blown out, the cap itself is good but because the key controls the latch I can't get the cap to close and hold. I just have an empty hole now where the key assy was

I guess the question really surrounds being able to fix the latching mech so i don't have to buy a whole new cap

Thoughts?

this helped out, will replace the guts of mine with a used on off of ebay
