Latest project - a purple 'oily rag' 1972 is now ready for the road. I started with a frame, a set of cases and several boxes of parts - not necessarily the right parts, but enough to make do ! The story of the build can be found here.

Re: Oily Purple
Congrats on a job well done.
From your bikes owned list, I see you are missing a GT750K.
There must be a few well-used K-models out there just waiting for you to save them from a parts salvager.

Re: Oily Purple
I did do a full restoration on a 'K', but sold it to a fellow here in Calgary as I needed room for new projects ! Once I get the Nimbus off the bench, I will be starting the next 'J' , which will be a full restoration in Candy Jackal Blue. And to make room for it I actually just sold a very well sorted 1975 GT750 with a fresh engine, which I put about 700 miles on to bed it in properly and work out any glitches. I'm beginning to think it is less a hobby, and more of a disease.jabcb wrote: I see you are missing a GT750K.
Here is another shot of the 'Oily Purple'. As can be seen, while mechanically it is 'new' the tin and trim are mostly original (hence why I call it an 'oily rag'), but the mountains can make anything look good ! I now have about 600 miles on it since putting it on the road just over a month ago. It is bedding in nicely, and so far I have only had to adjust a few minor things. I actually like the front drum brake, as it is much better than I had expected.

Lovely bike Ian and what a view! I like the drum brake too and would never change. I also like to leave my bike as is with patina just a personal choice.
