Blasting cases question & engine paint recommendations
Hi Everyone,
I plan to blast my GT750 cases this weekend with 80 grit glass beads. Everything is removed from the cases. Is there any areas that I should avoid on the cases? I also plan to paint the cases. Anyone have any recommendations on what Rattle Can color looks the best on the cases. Any painting tips are also welcomed. Thanks //Pat

After you blast the cases, power wash them and using compressed air, blow them dry. Get your air blower into every hole! Then power wash them AGAIN and blow them dry with compressed air AGAIN! The blasting media gets everywhere and it HAS to be cleaned out!!

+1 to what they said ! It took me ages to get the cases clean afterwards - and maybe its just me, but there is always that niggle of doubt that I did get them clean enough For paint, I just used a brake calliper paint in a rattle can - it has stood up well so far.

I like using the Duplicolor engine paint. It's durable and fairly gas resistant. Also, it's available in many colors.

New to the forum but I blast most of my parts for resto. Sand or other media ends up everywhere as indicated and its tough to get it all out. Have had no need to cover up threaded holes though. Only sliding or bearing surfaces.

I did my 550 with soda and it worked fine. Just very messy as the dust gets everywhere.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Re: Blasting cases question & engine paint recommendations
soda wont work properly on really shitty cases, I use oxide which does the work and bead to finish
