Post by pearljam724 »

The little retainer clip that attaches to late model carbs and holds the clutch cable. What part number is it ? I can't find it in a fiche anywhere. Appreciate the help.

Its really a useless part being its no more than a flimsy piece of zinc coated wire. I make mine from a pack of stainless steel chicken skewers you can find at most stores for about the same money.
Simply wrap one end around a socket of the suitable size and the other around a cross head screwdriver shaft to replicate the originals shape and diameter, then cut off the excess, and there you have it.
A new sturdy replacement that stays shiny all the time and wont bend as easily, and you get about enough skewers to make ten of the little clips for the price of one oem part.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

Good share Allan. I know what you mean. I had bought a roll of stainless steel wire a couple of months ago for the 550 exhaust cross over tubes being I haven't all the spring eye hooks and the exhaust leaks there ever so slightly. I was debating using that wiring for the same suggestion you made. But, figured the part is cheap enough to throw in with a order. But as you know the zinc won't last forever. And if it comes to that time, I'll make my own next go around. Was also trying to save time as I have several other time consuming things I need to do to complete the job.
