The first set of part numbers listed are for converting your old GT750 7 inch sealed beam unit to an H4 Halogen unit.
Since a few numbers have changed over the years and show up as NLA for the 74 to 77 GT750 headlamp reflector and its related parts, I have included the present numbers for the H.L bowl and its related parts

H.L conversion to H4 halogen
35121-34430 H4 reflector unit, Koito brand (symmetrical flute pattern) used in the mid to late 80s GS500.
35136-34400 retainer ring for the H4 bulb
35173-20A01 rubber sealing boot for the H4 bulb

H.L bowl and related parts.
35127-45030 H.L reflector mounting ring, front (3 screw type)
35130-45030 H.L reflector mounting ring, rear (3 screw type)
35111-01D20 H.L bowl rim (chrome) round type for L,M,A,B models only
51810-34130 H.L bowl (chrome) round type for L,M,A,B models but now with oval shaped harness holes.
Two strokes, its just that simple.

This halogen H4 headlight upgrade works for these 1973 & later models:
GT250 K-B
GT380 K-B
T500 K-M
GT250 A-B

You can upgrade to an H4 headlight that's for certain GS bikes.
The GS headlight rim 35111-45231 fits the listed headlight buckets.
The GS halogen H4 headlight 35121-45230 fits this rim.

The rim + the various little pieces you'll need are still available: http://www.powersportspro.com/pages/Oem ... nc/GS750L_(1981" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)/HEADLAMP/02830002/5602830022

The headlight is listed as unavailable, but it may be available under a different part number.
If the headlight is still available with a different part #, then maybe one of the Suzuki gurus knows the #.

The headlight is from the GS L models and does look a little different than the stock two-stroke units.

Suzuki used several different headlights on the GS models. If you go the eBay route, you'll need to check to make sure you've got the right one.
Bikes with this headlight:
81 GS550T
81-83 GS650GL
80-81 GS750L
80-83 GS850GL
80-83 GS1000GL

H4s are available in 35/35W, 45/45W & 55/60W.

I'm using a 45/45W H4 bulb on my T500M.
On the GT250 you might want to first try a 35/35W H4 bulb.

The GT380 has a Denso or Kokusan alternator. Of these two, the Denso provides a good bit more output.
See page 18 of: http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/suzi/suzidata1.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Early GT380s had 35/25W headlights & GT380A/B had 40/30W headlights.
The GT550 has the same alternators. Think the GT550 had 50/40W headlight.
On the GT380 you could use 45/45W H4 bulb.

The GT380 battery is a good bit smaller that the GT550's.
Use of LEDs would reduce battery load at low rpm. (think idling at red light while using turn signals & brake light)

On a GT380 with a Denso alternator, modern rectifier, modern regulator & modern high-output battery & maybe some LEDs,
I'd give the 55/60 H4 a try.

The current crop of fork seals for the GT750 are slightly thinner than the oem types fitted due to a redesign. If you have the oems in your fork legs, once you take the seals out its possible to easily separate the lower piece attached to the seal and reuse it as a spacer onto the newer seals.
If you don't have it or they are damaged during removal, then buy the metal spacers for the early 80s GS650 or 850 models, Suzuki part #51168-30B00.
You want to fill the space so the snap clip rests on the top of the seal so place the spacer in first then add the seal above it.

For some reason the parts books for the BS40 carbs fitted to the GT750 do not always show the copper washer between the float bowl and drain bolt as an available part.
Do not worry, simply use the front fork oil piece sealing washer that goes on the Allen bolt in the base of the fork leg. Its the same size and also made of copper, Suzuki Part# 51148-41310 or 51148-36011

On the BS40 carbs for the GT750, the choke circuit cover gasket is not shown as an available part. You can still get them however and Mikes XS has them for a reasonable price. The part number at Mikes website is #48-2011. (the eight hole type)

In the US market you cannot buy the air filter sponge separately for the GT750, you HAVE to buy the complete assembly. However one place that does have it is Discount Bike Spares in the UK, they have genuine Suzuki filter sponges available separately.
The Suzuki Part # 13781-31210 is what you need to order. Don't try to get creative and ask a US dealer to order that number as its not in the system as a valid item.
I've tried doing that already to save you having to do so,,,

What about an air filter for the early style GT 380? Single filter cage with an oval filter sleeve? Can't seem to find the part number or a replacement.

I bought some foam and made one for the GT550K. Cost about £3 including glue, and enough for 3 more.
Think of how stupid the average person is, then realise that half of them are more stupid than that.

Crank Bearing Pins

Post by wadarush »

Eventually I'll grow up some day and get my self a large C.C. vintage Suzuki but for now I'm still just safely cruising around GT185's

I recently came across a supplier that manufactures direct replacement locating pins for the crank bearings of GT185's. I'm not 100% certain here but I believe GT250's and GT380's use similar crank bearings with locating pins pressed into the bearing itself. The bigger bikes actually have locating pins in the engine casings, right?

Anyway...

Spirol manufactures coiled spring pins in similar dimensions, diameter is identical to factory, but the length is 0.050"in. too long. So far that isn't an issue though.
I was able to purchase these parts through a Spirol distributor in NY called Fastar, (845)369-7990.
Fastar's part number is 9N25PSPS/HCK.

The pins are constructed of stainless steel and have heat resistance ratings and sheer points well above our requirements.

Hmmm. I've met a few oily pimps. Can't say they have ever been very useful or necessary...oops shouldn't have admitted that!
