gt750 center stand spring replacement

hi all i have put the center stand back on my bike ,
but have a hard time getting the spring back on.
is there a trick to it or do you need arms like "ARNIE" to get it on.

Google "Spring Hook Puller Tool"

I bought one and it made replacing springs on side stands, centre stands and exhaust systems an absolute breeze. I've tried other methods, but these tools clearly reduce the risk of injury and damage. It helps to install the spring when the stand is in the retracted position.

This type of tool set are nice to own. For one, the cost. Two, the spring pullers and lastly the picks are extremely handy for cleaning carb bowls also. The one pick that has a 22 degree angle is very effective in cleaning the carb bowl orifices that have hardened gum / tarnish that is hard to reach effectively using anything else. They sell this exact set at Walmart, made by Stanley. Very handy for other types of odd jobs. Like Fritz mentioned. If the stand is retracted, it shouldn't take an aggressive pull. Perhaps, work out for several months to a year and come back to it later. I use to work out daily, but I quit. Remove the stand. Hook on the spring. Force the stand into place. An extra hand may be necessary, but you have much more oomph moving the stand as opposed to trying to stretch and hook that spring. That's how I did it. Spring first.

+1 what Coyote said. I almost injured myself trying to fit the spring after the stand, using a spring puller (10 stone weakling) but had no difficulty using the spring then stand method - more leverage

i was able to fit the spring by hooking 2 wire coat hangers together in a loop through the spring and around the tire ,
and using a piece of wood against the base of the lift table as a lever with my ever willing assistant (wifey).
then she pulled and i guided it on with vice grips ,
not elegant but effective and saved removing anything.

Mike,have you ever watched doomsdayers on TV,you could always hide in the shed...lots of tinned food & the bikes to keep you company,till it's safe to come out ? I'm sure she's a very understanding lady,after all you have 4 bikes !!!
