Any tips on shipping a bike internationally?
The gas tank is empty -- so that's not an issue.
The buyer suggested covering the tank & side covers with bubble wrap. Don't know if this is a good idea.

Re: international shipping tips
I've had 3 bikes shipped from US to Estonia within past 7-8 years.
- remove the battery to prevent acid spilling or corrosion
- remove any loose items (e. g. tire pump, mirrors, ignition keys) and store them inside the bike (under the seat, in battery box etc.) or ship separately
Bubble wrap on tank/side covers/mufflers might be good idea as well since the bikes weren't handled with exceptional care.

Re: international shipping tips
I shipped one to Norway, and when the shipping guys came to get it, they brought along a type of pre-made wooden crate. They rolled the bike onto the base of it, then the sides & top just attached to the base. In just a few minutes, the bike was completely enclosed & protected, it was pretty neat. The buyer paid for it, though, don't know how much it was. But it sure got the bike there in great condition!
