hi guys
got the gt750j sorted now ,put a second hand later model oil pump on ,all good now, still cant see what was wrong with the old one, stripped it down and didnt seem to be any excessive wear anywhere,so dont know on that one, bikes only showing 12000 miles so shouldnt have been worn unless it was a replacement, i can see behind me now,not so embarrassing anymore
thanks for your help dennis

Nice to hear things have resolved. My question is: Where in this little country of ours - with a proud history of shagging all motorcycles - did you find one with only 12000 miles on it?

appears to be a new zealand new bike as had old black plate with it with last rego sticker of 1979,so im presuming it sat around in a shed somewhere for a long time,i bought thru trade me but seller not very helpfull on history, wont reply to emails requesting info, though he did say head and barrells were pulled off to fix a gasket leak and he put a set of original size pistons and rings in,said no bore wear so could be original miles
