I just noted the Suzuki OEM dealers I have been using chnaged their web site and show only back to 1973, whereas before I could see back to 1969 or 68. I went to Europe site CMSNL.com and could still see older parts, I plugged parts numbers into USA site and the would not show up andmore unless they had something in common with another bike still being shown.

FOr example crnashaft oil seals were still available for GT750 just a few weeks back and now if you put the number in from CMSNL into powersportspro.com it shows unavaible.

Has anyone seen this issue

It does not only effect older bikes, some Suzuki dealer websites also show part numbers deleted on pages as recent as 2000 models.
Most times you call the dealer and they can run the number in the main system and its still valid.

This may be a hard pill to swallow financially BUT I suggest everyone start stockpiling some of the scarce parts for the models you have now,,,, just in case.

I can only assume the recent financial issue Suzuki had with pulling out of the US car market has hurt the company somewhat and they are beginning to scale back all non essential items.
Its therefore possible once stock of certain parts for older models deemed slow moving, stagnant, and/or due for production re-issue, might soon be made obsolete.

Good news I hope

I am sorry for false alarm I hope. It was just that I use typically 2-3 OEM sources in the recent past and ALLwe not showing this old 2strokers anymore! Not even part# only search

I contacted Dillon Power Sports (aka PowerSportPro.com) and they said they have a different web site now for older parts. They changed their main web site The guy (Martin) said it should be OK for types of purchases I made in the past.

He sent me the new link to their website...

I have not tried it yet but, will when I get time but, wanted to get this out there ASAP.

Allan,
Its a good idea for those with a bit of liquidity and sheer determination - the paradox (or is it irony?) is that if 1000 people all order something, that demand might prompt restocking and assured availability in the future. A market system 'ought' to work in this way, Stradivarius instruments aside :-)
Cheers,
Mike

Yes Mike ordering in quantity by many customers does do what you stated, the issue is it takes money to buy parts and its usually a fair chunk of change for the customers to lay out.
How many times have people said, "only if I'd known I would have stockpiled some of those years ago", but sadly they don't.
I often wondered if such a system was in place for requests on the retail end. If numbers computed into the main parts network prompted a reissue of those parts as long as the global required totals were reached within a specified time frame.
There are "lost sales" forms but I have never seen anything about addressing what the manufacturers plan to do for obsolete or older model parts that are constantly being requested.

It works.

As Allan says, for the parts you are likely to need longer term which can't easily be sourced from a third party, best start to stock up while you can still get them. 8)
