Badges, removing stinking badges.

Post by Tripleking »

I need to remove the tank badges from my 75 GT380 as the tank and side covers are going in for painting, Unlike most of my old bikes, which have the badges held on with little screws, the GT's badges seem to be glued on. I am afraid the will break as I remove them. Does anyone have a tip or two?

Well that is odd. My bike is a 1975 GT380 also but mine are screwed on. Which one of us has the wrong fuel tank I wonder?

There are no holes for screws either.

Badges were held on by 'clips' that Suzuki calls nuts. Unless the PO glued them on, they should pop right off with the aid of a flat blade screw driver. The clips / nuts are still available from Suzuki for about $1 each. Part number 09148-04005.
I was born with nothing and still have most of it left.

I will try. My side cover badges had caps, but when removing, the tip of the studs broke of. Lost about 1/4 of the studs at the end.

DK what color blue I will paint it. It is blue now. I was thinking of Chrysler B3 (Petty) Blue or Ford Grabber Blue, both fairly light blues. Cobra Guardsman Blue Might be nice.

If the pins are too short for new caps, you can attach them with double sided automotive trim tape OR if they fit well, you can use silicone adhesive on the pins inside the cover
